If you are going to rely on Eufy's app and recording to SD, this is fine. Quality is plenty good enough. They had a dodgy issue with unencrypted access to these, but that's been sorted. If you have Home Assistant, there's a Eufy Security integration, so you can turn them off when somebody (who is known to the household of course) is at home, for example.

If you're using this as part of an NVR-based solution, be aware that the RTSP feed is downscaled (badly) to 1920x1080, and quality suffers significantly. Still fine for knowing if somebody is there, but if you're pointing this out of a window, for example, license plates and the like become difficult to resolve.

Great price for a excellent device. Still working great after 2yrs outdoor under the roof guttering area (note, they are not meant for outdoors!)

i'm thinking of doing the same (under the eaves of my new garden shed) have you had any issues with it?

Can someone please tell me do these need power or are they POE ?. And what would be the best SD card for them ?
    AdErm's avatar
They need power through USB. No PoE.

Best SD card is the endurance micro SD cards specifically designed for use in these 24/7 recording cameras/dash cams, such as the SanDisk High Endurance or Integral Security.

Hey if some Chinese hacker wants to look at me picking my nose and scratching my bum then they are more than welcome. You take a risk with any wifi/internet security system.

This looks exactly like the Tapo I have just bought, for £22 :/

    IMO
I had a Tapo, Its no way as good as Eufy. Maybe that's why its only £22 Eufy night works great.

Do you need the HomeBase for this to record video?

I've got the doorbell and this and both show up in the app with all alerts working fine. There is an option on the app I believe to connect everything to the homebase.

Key info: requires SD card and Homebase not required/ not compatible with Homebase depending upon your viewpoint.

For people who have one, what length lead do you use and where is a good point for the camera.
For instance most peoples power sockets say in the lounge are low down near the skirting.
An ideal point for a camera would be in a corner of the room on rhe pelmet?
    kappaz187's avatar
Mines plugged into an extension tower so dont have too much of an issue with length of lead and have mine perched on a small little vase on window sill to give it some height so get a clear view of anyone walking past/knocking at the door

Very good price, great quality camera. Only a couple of feedback who wants to buy this.
    1. Do not put very high or turn it upside down because the camera is very limited to face down movement.
    2. Sometimes for no reason it just turn itself to a weird angle. I couldn't figure out why it does it.
Other than these two highly recommended.

Anyone know if you can turn the IR LEDs off? Looking to upgrade from a Tapo C200 that points out the window. Need to turn off the IR to stop reflections, as the streets lit with loads of LED street lamps, so IR not needed. (edited)
    Sandmannn's avatar
Yes you can but if you want to use it through the window I suggest the Eufy C24 2K. That is what I use. It is flat and you can find window mount on eBay and it is much better than using this. Basically no reflection at all. But you need good outdoor light to use it at night.

Is this compatible with Homebase 2? Can the recording be saved there? Thanks

The same question would be for the hombase 3

So I’ve just purchased two. Realised I need 3 . Gone back to get another one and I’ve got £2.92 discount??
  18. laluuk's avatar
Can this be used as a outside security camera? Seen a few neighbours leaving it by the window and pointing it out.
    RichardMcintosh's avatar
Had one for that reason in the past and you only get the reflection of the window. In the end but the right outside cameras.
