Just FYI Eufy have been caught taking images from their cameras, tagging them with facial recognition software and uploading them to their own servers without user consent and storing them unencrypted on public facing servers. All the while telling people there's no cloud and everything is local and under your control.

Just to make people aware some people have spotted that Eufy are leaking data and leaving it unencrypted even if not using cloud storage.

    Perhaps not

2:55 you can remotely start someone else's camera (without any authentication) and watch the stream live (edited)

A real pity that they don't work with the homebase. Eufy dropped the ball on that one

Hi,was thinking about it as I have the homebase and cameras already but if I can't link it got to be a no sadly. (edited)

Unfortunately lamps like these are installed in a way which illuminates the houses across the road and triggered by anyone walking past on the pavement. As such they are intrusive light pollution.

You can tilt them down. Mine only shine onto my driveway. You can set the recording boundary zone too. But I didnt want it shining into my neighbours across the road

i actually got the new version for £99 from Amazon back in September...in fairness, the only difference is the aesthetics and the light output is an extra 500 lumens on the newer one...the £99 price on this is quite regular though so unless you are desperate for one, wait for the price to drop again

love how all of a sudden everyone is an InfoSec specialist...

Not disagreeing that their wording hasn't been ideal....but my system is totally safe as my cameras are totally local due to being on segregated VLANS that don't connect to the internet...but not everyone has this ability or know how so Eufy need to be clearer. Their announcement recently has gone some way towards this but they need to make it clearer still. (edited)

These don’t use the home base but all show on the app and all give notifications. I don’t really see the difference if it’s connected to the home base

Recordings are kept on the camera which is an issue if stolen. Not so likely with this mounted high enough. More of a risk with doorbells.

When you guys are talking about spyware like why would anyone want to know what my face is doing? As Long as my username, password and address etc are not leaked I'm not that fussed. You get caught on CCTV every day when you go out. I should say though I don't have internal cameras

Yeah, you might wanna get concerned about capturing footage of people outside your home too.

Based on this ruling, you're liable for any footage you capture of other people on their private property. They could bring a lawsuit against you for facilitating eufy to perform facial recognition upon them without their knowledge or consent while they are on their own private property.
