There were tickets from London to Paris on December 7th and return on December 9th for £29, though they were not shown as promo fare. Is this a standard fare?

us millioniaires care more about a good deal than those poor people outside the M25 that's why we are millionaires you know we didn't get rich by wasting our money old chap.

Hes not wrong about london though. Was caught up in an armed robbery of kfc when i was there. S.hole

Lots of people triggered by a simple comment :/

Any budget hotel commutable to disnet

Train will get u directly to city centre and u can get better deals on Mcr - Lnd trains if u shop around (I do Leeds - London X cross for under £20 return). If u’re on low budget u can catch a coach (National Express or Megabus) for £5 one way,

Agreed why too Dangerous and over run with fakugees. Yet post a deal to Turkey and everyone panics lol it’s a lot safer there

Ok if you live in London lol otherwise it’s 4 million quid and six days travel in what looks like the back of an ash cart! Voted hot although cheap flights will be about by then too

Still £140 for 2 people to go return to Bruges by Eurostar or £67 on ferry plus petrol from London. No brainer, I'd like to go by train and not push out toxic CO2, but prices still dont stack up

Absolutely true. I gave up a couple of years ago though so wouldn't be worth it on my part.

still cheaper than in the uk, £9 compared to £21, if you smoke a pouch a week it doesn't take much to make a massive saving. but relatively speaking its the same kind of savings around 50% or so, when baccy was £2.50 there it was £5 or £6 here

oh dear so sorry. I did sept and fares popped up straight away.

Why don’t they just tell you the dates for these deals - it would make it a whole lot easier to find? cannot see the £58 offers

they do all have their risks, but this thread was about Paris so was just agreeing with some of the other commenters about having a bad experience. It was my first time abroad (but not my first time in a major city), I lived in Manchester for 3 years and now live a short train ride from London, only had one (failed) pick pocketing experience in all that time. I have been other places abroad without being robbed.

You're judging an large city by your one bad experience... They all have their risks... Well done for necroing...

How is that relevant to my comment about *actually* getting pickpocketed?

nothing at that price. 89 the cheaper one way, such misleading advert.

Totally agree.

So i noticed some people saying they can't get the £29 fares, while i could still see them. So this is whats happening, what you have to do is when doing a search, is to select Return travel, if you just search for one way they are not offering the £29 fare, as an example On 15th April Lon -> Paris when you select return there are 5 trains at £29 to Paris, but if you select One way then lowest fare offered is £84. I hope this helps .

Blah - "FROM". They really ought to ban the word. Needed 29/3 and/or 15/4 - both are extortionate.

That’s what I was wondering, there’s plenty of seats at great prices, sometimes a little flexibility is all it takes, I guess some are expecting peak time time trains ! Glad you got got a trip sorted (y) 🏻

I used to live in Exeter, so I know :). No, we are strong and stable and we got our country back. Who cares about our infrastructure when you can have your cake and eat it.

Be glad you don't live in S Devon/Cornwall. Just returned from Naples. Train tickets and connections to airport cost more than the actual holiday. Shortest leg of our trip was the flight! Infrastructure in the UK is a global embarrassment.

You know that train you linked goes the 'long way round' via Bristol? And is the last service of the day so stops at loads of places... Talk about selectively choosing a train to make your point! Try the trains via Castle Cary which is the shortest route and you'll see the fast trains are 2hrs-2hrs 20 or so.

A flight from Heathrow usually takes 45 minutes and using Avios you can fly for £34.95 return. Eurostar will never be able to match that. Eurostar 3hrs 41min and that’s on a good day I bet.. no thanks

No, change in Brussels and you cannot choose the seat for the first part of the journey as it is Thalys train. Thalys will not change the seat either as it is sold by Eurostar. When heading back to London by Eurostar, you must check in at least 30 minutes before the Eurostar leaves.

Did this on Premier tickets to Ghent a few years ago. Worth every penny. Free booze all the way. I'd like to comment on how comfy the seats were but I stayed in the booze bus all the way to Brussels. Worth doing just for the experience. It's lot faster than you expect. Belgium beer is fantastic too.

I had a terrible experience with this last year. I turned up on time for the train at St Pancras and they claimed they were overbooked. They tried to force me to buy a more expensive tickets (£200). Eventually, after realising I wasn't going to crack, they put me on the next train, which was 80% empty.

There are tickets for £11 and £12 if you reserve them, doesn't seem too bad.

Sadly it's the ridiculous train costs from Telford. Cheaper to get to Paris than it is to London.

For most people, getting to London from the midlands is no more hassle than getting to an airport.

Yeah I've seen that. That's quite crazy the slots are massive, but might just go for that anyway (party)

What a wasteman! If you own or have access to a room, please stay in there. The world is much better place without you. I'm not an African. Just because I defend a racist attack, doesn't mean I belong to that race. Your "all muslims are terrorist" comment is nothing but a glimpse of your sick mentality. Ex police officer, I guess I know why you're ex officer lol. Now go and take your girlfriend to your local pub and enjoy your £10 night out. Oh no I forgot you're better off in your room only. Night night.

"Muslim immigrants especially the Africans".... Shame even our schools couldn't teach you how to talk in public. Can your girlfriend really prove that all of culprits were Muslims? Or all of them were Africans? Or all of them were even immigrants? If she can't then keep your sick mentality to yourself or probably share it with your girlfriend. There's a reason she's your girlfriend and you made it quite obvious. In terms of Paris at night, I found it easier to visit Eiffel tower at night. You can park right next to it. The only problem we faced was, we were approached (not aggressively by any mean) by a lot of street vendors offering champagne and roses.

Paris is a war zone especially at night my girlfriend found it extremely scary especially if you like to venture outside the centre of town - muslim immigrants especially the Africans are all pickpockets , muggers and the amount of violence against the police was seriously disturbing as are all the people sleeping everywhere in the streets - if you do go i woudl seriously advise you to take a weapon or tazer with you its really that bad! The authorities and police havent a clue what to do about it. So much for no nogo zones we found out there are literally hundreds now in France where even the police are afraid to go - they call them Banlieu so avoid at all costs. If you are Jewish it would be best to avoid at all costs or at least disguise your Yashmak as we saw loads of violence at night! Worst city break i have ever had so different from when i went in 1990's - I for one will never go back! Dont listen to the libtards IT IS Dangerous especially the train statin and bus depots!

if you read the ONE review it states "THEY WERE LATE". they dont overbook. they arrived with 27 minutes to go and you have to check in with over 30 minutes.

That Trip Advisor post isn't a good example of Eurostar being bad or evil or disingenuous regardless of whether you have an allocated seat or not.. Try getting on a plane when you arrive at a gate when boarding has closed.

I see, I stand corrected. Apologies. Seems so dumb of eurostar to risk this kind of bad reputation though.

early morning means an overnight hotel stay in London. You have to get there well before departure time. If your train leaves at noon, you have to be there 45 to 60 minutes before departure. it means that the last day of your break is cut short. But hey, pub sounds good too!

Can't find any. Naughty Eurostar.

Can't find these cheap fares. Flying to Paris next month to visit my daughter who's working there. Was quite looking forward to going but after the negative comments on this thread I'm not so sure. As regards the comment saying you WILL get mugged, really? Try scunny on a Saturday night. As regards Barcelona when we went there were pick-pockets every where and I managed to get jumped by a group of yobs for no reason.

It is much better to chose middle Europe destinations like Poland, Czech Republic or Slovakia. So safe up there, so quiet. France is lost....

Having come back from a recent trip to Paris, I would not recommend it to anybody.

Eurostar snap is brilliant. I got £19 each way tickets a few weeks ago for me and my daughter to Paris. Due to delays beyond their control, we even got our trip back to London refunded! The only thing that's a negative for me as I can't book for my 8 year old on there as you have to be over 16.

Perhaps most of the friends you made through all the years stayed local. Or you lost touch or hardly ever meet the ones who didn't. Travel is cheaper the last 10 years. It's great for keeping in touch with real friends not living local in my experience.

Wish I was that young !!! nearer 60 than 50. As you say though each to their own. I just hate it when deals are dependant on you having a facebook account so you can like them.

Dang, don't have facebook - Any way to access the offer page without fb?

Well , i'm 49 so probably older than you & love my Facebook account. You can do much more with it than just post updates. I do voluntary work through the Animal Rehoming Network because of Facebook. Each to their own.

Why would I want a facebook account? Does it make you a "fun person" having 1? How many imaginary friends you got on there? Manage to meet and have a good laugh with my friends in person in a pub or somewhere out, don't think they would be interested in my status updates. My children have accounts and use it quite a bit but they are CHILDREN not middle aged as I am.8)

Thanks OP. You have saved me money. My original booking of 4 days in Paris for 2 came to £147. I was just in the middle of booking that and pay £147 before something told me to check on here. I have now changed my Paris trip to just a day visito and stay longer in Amsterdam instead. Thanks again.

Found loads for November at £19.50 each return, just click through the link. Lille xmas market starts on 25th November, so could go for that. I am so tempted to book, but going to Budapest at beginning of December, so not sure!!! Great find op.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going on 16th so will bear your suggestions in mind!

These are good prices, a point of course, unless you have Euros is that's much more expensive then it was a 5 months ago! On top of that, Paris has really degenerated a lot of over the last few years. I was just at a low C02 meeting and they have some interesting plans for transport and a new far reaching train line to try and reinvigorate the place. Good place to visit is the catacombs, I thought they were quite unique! If you can go before winter sets in, walking the Monmarte area is not only free but really pretty (if you don't mind steps). Sainte-Chapelle is much better then Notre Dame if you want to see an amazing church.

Note - the above don't have to be booked for the same day return journey unlike the OP but this deal expires end of Thursday 27 October

Did bother looking at Paris, waste of time. Wanted a cheep trip to visit my daughter who lives there. NONE

I LOVE Eurostar! I don't live in London, I live in Birmingham but I just catch Virgin Trains to Euston and a quick switch to St. Pancras. It may be a little longer than flying but I love there is no weight limit, no liquid restrictions, no turbulence & you're in the heart of Paris when you arrive! I paid £75 return from Birmingham to Paris via London back in May. I would have definitely booked if I wasn't going to Barcelona! Heat added

Concerning luggage you can take anything you want with you, (no weapons of course and especially this moment well you know how is the mood in france) no matter the weight or tge size of your luggage or how much you have. You just have to be able to hold it by yourself

I looked for 2 dates in November, must have just been unlucky then as they were both extortionate

Just booked a trip to and a return for Paris in November for £29 per person (Each Way). All because you cannot find it next week for £29 doesn't mean it isn't there.
