    Would this be a good choice for a beginner runner?

    I use a fitbit at the moment but I'd prefer something that does intervals, either distance (preferably) or time, so for example, I could walk for 300m, run for 1km, etc etc?

    This is a mid range Forerunner, so guessing it will cover all of your basic needs.
    It has the benefit of having Garmin Pay over the cheaper models too.
