Don't forget to sign up with a new email for the £5 off voucher.

I done this and added a bulb to the order for £1.50 as the minimum purchase is £40. And used my employee discount though my company to get another 8% off. Brought a £36 voucher for £33.12 and paid the final 49p at checkout.

Scotching deal. Google Chromecast with Google TV 4k for £33.61

I was hoping to get one of these but having read up a little it has no All4 and sketchy iPlayer support. That has been a bugbear with my shield tv for years.

Better off with a Fire stick as they'll most likely be dirt cheap for black Friday and have better app coverage. The max has similar hardware.

All4 can be cast to it from your phone, but correct it does not have the app.

Not sure what the issue is with iPlayer other than one person mentioning it doesn't yet support 4k, but is fine for HD.

The hd one does not yet have BBC iPlayer support.

I bought one two weeks ago and emailed BBC for an update. It's in the pipelines.

So I've ordered a Roku express for £14 with 6 months Apple TV+ from Currys as a back up.

    Edit;

Ended up selling the Google Chrome cast on Facebook for £25. Found the Roku express has more options for streaming over the Chromecast with TV, so ordered a 2nd for the bedroom (edited)

Weird that. I've had the 4K for some time and just assumed that BBC iPlayer was a given on all devices. Picked up the HD today and found it missing. Then your post confirmed I wasn't losing my marbles.

On the plus side ITV X app is there.

Good deal but am I the only one who dislikes the remote?
Preferred my Chromecast without, now I have another remote and they go missing in our household

You can use your phone if you prefer but it's not a disadvantage to get a remote?!

Having had both I decided on the 4k Roku which in my opinion is a much better device.

Just bought a new smart TV for the conservatory, on the box it tells me it's got all the apps built in, so do I "need" one of these?..... what will this bring to the TV that isn't already there?
    Thanks for any helpful advice
    deleted2173436's avatar
That would depend on the TV you've bought. If it's a Samsung with that awful tizen operating system then adding something like Android TV or Roku would let you get all the apps missing from the tizen app library. It may well be though that tizen has all you need.
Personally I'd never buy a TV with tizen again, android all the way.

No BBC iPlayer on HD version. No All4 on either.
