sorted byShocking battery life. Fast charge is terrible.
Honestly should of stuck with my 4 year old Chinese flagship. (edited)
Moved over from o2 (£15 per month for 30gb of Data), but I'd also usd a Lebara (Vodafone Sim) without issue, to ID (£12 Per month for Unlimited Data). The problem was, no matter what I did the Pixel Pro wouldn't acknowledge ID's (3) network. It accepted the Sim card, but the 3 network wouldn't show up no matter what I tried. I googled it and there's various posts about it, even some that suggest the Modem on certain models were faulty. I reset the Network, put in the 3 Networks APN Manually all to no avail.
I eventually contacted Google through their helpline for the Pixel (Wow what a great service, they ring you back within seconds and were really supportive about the issue), they gave me two options, reset the phone and lose everything or send it off for repair under warranty. I've had a lot of experience with phones over the years and didn't believe for a second that a full reset would fix the problem (I'd already reset all the network options etc), so opted for a repair. The nearest repair place was 20 miles from me and you have to drop it off yourself (That bits not great google). It turns out as part of the repair process you have to wipe the phone anyway..... Which I did unwillingly. Turns out the Google support were right and all of a sudden my phone recognised the 3 network. So if any of you have this problem, here is the unfortunate answer, spend ages backing everything up and wipe it.
Still love it as a phone, the Camera is brilliant especially the Macro lens, but we shouldn't have to be wiping phones just to get a network provider to work.
Also worth mentioning (and please don't Judge me for this, I like it because it's free) - The Daily Mail app, will crash like you've never seen. It freezes, closes itself, and is unstable as hell. It's down to the adverts it uses, I paid £2.69 for an app called Ad Blocker Pro and it's now stable enough to use. Just saying. Never had an issue with that app on any other phone, but the Pixel Pro 7 really doesn't like it (edited)
Am I missing something?
I still have my Pixel 5 but it's really showing its age. Every time I use my partner's pixel 7 it's crazy how despite both having 90hz 1080p screens, that the 7 is significantly smoother in every way.
I shouldn't be shocked, because the SD765 was always a cheap turd, but because I'm used to slowness it's like going from a HDD to an SSD for the first time all over again.
Most people won't be disappointed. Those who are used to cheap malware infested brands from AliExpress will likely be disappointed in the value.
The Pixel 7 is a much newer phone, but quite a bit more expensive as I'd want 256 GB version. I also don't like the slow charge speed of the Pixel 7. It's likely to have a better screen and capture better images though. And I do like the eSim support. Hmm, decisions decisions!
Thoughts, anyone?
Mrs is rocking an old Poco F1 and anything will be an upgrade ... but this one seems like a decent mid-ranger all round.
Wonder if TCB applies? (edited)
I like my 7 Pro though
Google, you have to pull out ALL the stops, you're being shown up. I reckon all the folks in your Pixel 7 adverts are back on iPhones or Galaxies by now, simply because they work.
The fingerprint reader, modem capability to acquire and retain signal, and the battery life, is truly woeful.
Naturally YMMV, this is my experience. Pixels are simply not an option for me now or in the future unless they radically change for the better. I sincerely hope your experience is better if you buy one.
