Personally for this much money I would rather recommend a person get a Tanita scale like the KD-320 or KD-321 the difference between the two models is cosmetic but they are the most accurate digital kitchen scales I think you can buy however the maximum capacity is lower at 3kg although I have never needed a greater capacity scale so far for home cooking, I had salter digital scales before but they suddenly malfunctioned just outside of warranty which was a bit disappointing.

At 1st glance l thought this was a mouse pad

But why does this look to me like a Jeweller's scale more?

Must be nearing school holiday times hitting me

    For if you're a "baker"

I had this scale, bought it from John Lewis and needed 3 replacements. Any liquid whatsoever will damage this. I bought it as it would have been perfect for pour over coffee, but I have since replaced it with a Timemore Black Mirror Scale and it is far better.
