I really don't get Lego these days.

Seems super expensive and all of these sets look like they are mostly made up of moulded parts exclusive to the set, surely the trick/skill with Lego was making what you wanted from Lego bricks/parts.

However, I understand this is all subjective and this is a good deal if this is your thing, so voted hot and thanks OP.

Give me an old cardboard box full of random Lego emptied on the living room floor any day (edited)

You’re a little far off the mark with the moulded parts. Half the fun of building these newer sets is seeing how they use existing parts to represent different things. In this set they use ice cream toppers to represent miniature trees, in the flower bouquet set they build roses out of car bonnets and leaves out of pterodactyl wings, the bonsai tree uses frog elements to look like cherry blossoms, the list goes on. I’m pretty sure there’s a Star Wars ship that uses carrots to represent rocket boosters.

There’s a lot more elements out there these days than there used to be, but their priority is always on reusing existing elements over creating new ones, to the point where most Lego reviewers consider it a talking point if a set is built using a new piece, or even an existing piece printed in a new colour.

Yet to buy this as I think it's been lower in price so holding off.
But have Optimus prime. That's a great set.

Lego is cool but yeah expensive now days, funny thing is though if they didn’t have idea of leaching co-oping with different parties like Mario/StarWars etc then they would be out of business so you gotta hand it to them for still doing it in 2023
