Has anyone used one of these? I'm wondering how the navigation is?

Any suggestions on units with usable navigation for around £100 or below? (edited)

I had a Mega XL (also reduced at Chain Reaction to £90) and once I started using the offline mapping/routing rather than standard, it became far better (in fairness standard relies on your mobile data connection and Three mobile is rubbish in some UK areas).

You get proper street maps rather than a basic breadcrumb trail which I think the Super Pro has, battery life is amazing, I'm now toying with the idea of a replacement Mega XL for the one I misplaced when not connected to the bike.

But there are some good deals on iGPSport GPS computers on Amazon and the Hammerhead Karoo 2 is available in several places for the promo price of £235 etc. (edited)

These are excellent as cycle computers, it Ive had 2 break when they were both about 2 years old. Perhaps I was unlucky, but at full price that's annoying to say the least - at this price maybe worth it

Looking at the reviews, somebody said theirs broke at 18 months. Not encouraging

Reviews definitely put me off this.

I have the Macro Plus and it's great. Been using it since 2019 and done over 15,000km with it. The LiveTrack feature is fantastic. It syncs with your phone and keeps updating your location on a webpage that you can share with friends family, so they can track your rides. Perfect if you're on a long trip abroad. It can also sync your rides to Strava, Komoot, etc. (edited)

Tempted by the price to replace my 4 year old garmin edge 520. I don't think you can go that wrong at this price. The reviews are actually decent and (don't forget) take in to account price at time of reviewing. Wouldn't hesitate to give this a go if after your first dedicated bike computer.

Hot, very. Boring design and mono screen but great functionality... If you are going to rely on navigation most of the time I would get something else, as others point out. It can give you directions but it is true that if you go off route the re-routing function is (or was at least when launched) poor. But if you want to track activities and get them on Strava and not worry about damaging an 300-400£ unit if you hit the tarmac... I can't see why you wouldn't buy this

How does GPS work does it need a sim card ?

Nope, it'll have its own on board gps module, it will sync with webservices either through your phone or WiFi. I've tried lezyne in the past and found the user interface lacked compared to Wahoo and Garmin but that's when they were a similar price, you won't get much/anything new from other big firms at this price. Also, if you aren't already familiar with garmin, etc I guess you aren't trying to unlearn a way to do something!

Hmmm tempting... I just need a map and turn by turn directions, I don't cycle fast or hard enough to want to know my heart rate etc.. just something to stop me reaching down and getting my phone out of my pocket for the map.

Try Komoot? Or Google maps is actually decent too.

I gave up on my lezyne, they are simpler low power devices, they have great battery, clear mono screens but the routing sucks.

That answered my question! What were the issue's you had with the routing? And would you say it's similar to any equivalent stuff from garmin etc?

I was pondering the Mega Xl but when this is only £40 and covers most of the same stuff, I think it's a bit of a no brainer. If I don't get on with it in sure I could sell it for £40 on ebay!

Thanks- ordered to replace an old iGPSport iGS50e. I got my money's worth out of it but battery life starting to suffer and it's annoying having to connect via USB to upload rides. Also, the GPS accuracy wasn't amazing. If this Lezyne can improve on those points then at £40 I'll be satisfied.

I was about to bite the bullet but then saw the Mega XL was £54 - initially I only noticed the bundle which has an outfront mount and rear light for £69 but to be honest, I've got enough rear lights so it's not really worth it. If it had the outfront AND the regular one I'd go for it, but with either the regular or bundle, I'd have to buy a second mount anyway.
