I have this amp - and the value for money is hard to beat

AV processor - I'm using in 5.1.2 ATMOS set-up. Sounds fantastic and no complaints when watching movies etc
2-Channel stereo - As a Class A/B amp, it really shines when listening to music. I've had lots of amps over recent years from NAD,Naim & Musical Fidelity. The 70s really holds it own against much more expensive amps. If you are a spotify user- job done as it supports Spotify Connect which means you can ignore HEOS app.
HEOS - This is the only downside if you don't use Spotify connect. Its not a great experience when compared to the competition out there. I'm a Qobuz user (not supported on HEOS), so I have a separate DAC/streamer attached (eversolo DMP-A6 MasterEdition) - Sounds really good, but only a small bump up from using the 70s on its own. Amazon music and Tidal also sounded great using HEOS. Shame the app can be glitchy - random playback pauses, loss of connection to tidal etc.
    Remote: Very good, backlit remote.
Pre-outs: Has full set. I had mine hooked up to an audiolab power amp for a while. Also sounded great, bit more muscle in the explosions!
    Recommend this!

    Thanks for your input
Can I ask which speakers you are powering with this amp?

    Thanks!

If we get down this route of deep dive analysis we shouldn't buy the well-received and reviewed Denon 3800H as well

I am on the fence here, to be honest...

Looks nice. If only I could get the missus onboard with a surround setup! Any would love Sony to make a decent Bluray player like my 20 year old multi-region DVD player of theirs. All feel like plastic rubbish nowadays in the main.

I've still got a couple of Sony's earlier Cinema series amps, though the older one is nicer as much weightier and feels quality, where the newest one, still around 20 years old is lightweight, though technically better spec wise.

Can remember paying nearly £600 for my Denon 2900 dvd player ...that weighed 10kg!

And eventually sold for 50 quid !

I have a previous version of this (NR1609) which I paid £375 for about 4yrs ago, so about £450 in today's money - this is a good price for this model, the prices have just increased a lot. Chosen for its size, which is basically the only reason to buy it. Pretty happy with it, though for ease of use I preferred the (normal size) Yamaha I bought 7yrs prior which died without warning. Using it with my old Boston Acoustics 5.1 setup, so with the amp and subwoofer tucked away it's quite subtle. Doesn't get used that much as we have a 4yr old in the house. I still have my old hifi separates in the spare room for stereo listening.
