London Dungeons are currently offering 8.5% TopCashBack- click through via TCB, then buy the Merlin Annual pass(es) on there.

Assuming you're driving, I suggest 1 gold per family and the rest silver
    Bobajob69's avatar
How does this work with available days as I currently have 3 golds ending soon? I assume to book a gold (non silver available day) all would have to be gold members? Thanks.

Just remember its off peak only. Great if you are able to go when schools are off, but much more limiting if trying to go in school holidays.
    SJ_16's avatar
Depends on the pass you buy

If you are disabled, make sure to apply for an Access card.
Lets you bring a free +1 as a carer to loads of places, including Merlin attractions, and many theatres.
Also allows you to bring up to 3 people with you in the disabled queue at theme parks. Absolute game changer!

Think it costs around £30 for 3 years, but could be remembering wrong

+1 for nimbus. Greg Davies tickets sold out mega quick. Rang the access number for the venue I wanted and got Row D with a free plus one. Mint. Makes the bleed on the brain almost worth it

Parking at Alton towers now £10 this season!

Is parking not free with a pass?

I don’t have a car,UK theme parks are almost impossible without one

Alton Towers - Train to Uttoxeter and then a bus
Thorpe Park - Train to Staines and then a bus
Chessington - Train to Chessington South and then walk
BPB - Train to Blackpool and then walk

    Hardly 'impossible' is it now.

We had the gold passes from Aug ‘22 - Aug ‘23. We did Alton Towers 5/6 times, Legoland twice, Warwick castle twice, all the London sites once and a couple of Sea Worlds. Was great value and an absolute winner for days out in school holidays. Would do again, but in a few years.

You do have to pre-book. But we booked Alton Towers the day of no problem. It’ll be some of the smaller attractions where you’d need to decide in advance. (edited)

Can I have advice from you guys. Please reply explaining as if I am very very dumb lol I need to understand what to get. I want to go sometimes in holidays I have two kids I'd take and I drive. What's best for me. I assume gold but do I go via a cashback site or what
    emmatthew's avatar

If you plan to go in the school holidays then you will need gold.
Best cashback at the moment is to buy via Legoland Discovery Birmingham.

    TCB 10%
    Halifax credit card 10%
    Airtime Rewards 5%

So if you are able to use the above that’s close to an additional 25% off too although TCB is excluded VAT
Other banks may have cashback too such as Santander.
Cannot screenshot my Halifax  bank cashback but here are TCB and Airtime rewards.

Our Gold finished in Feb. Absolutely loved it last year. Knowing you don’t need to rush and can come back again. Even rocking up at Legoland for the splash park bit for a couple of hours was good. Train to London and Sealife, Shrek and London eye also made for a great day out. Gonna take a year off but deffo do again
  15. mailmikey's avatar
We have a platinum since April, good value and because we're 30mins from Legoland anytime we have nothing else planned I just take the kids (6&9) out for the day. Halloween events were good. Warwick Castle in summer with the shows were fantastic. The only bit I didn't like was the 90mins+ queues to the rides which was the usual on weekends and school holidays. Won't be renewing this year though so we can try other things, may be consider again in a couple of years...

As much as I love theme parks, after going to universal studios in Florida, UK theme parks are so tired and lacklustre in comparison. Even the staff in Florida get into character whereas in the UK it can be a very half assed service.

if you're thinking about going silver for a family, its worth getting one gold pass for one of you as the benefits (free parking, queue skip at london eye and bigger discount on food & drink) quickly outweigh the additional cost, even if you're not using the extra dates.
    -LG's avatar
Queue skip at London eye, is that using the one fast track voucher you get for the gold? Doesn't that only allow one person to skip most of the queue anyway?

Thanks OP was waiting for this year's sale to start.

Trying my luck with the 10.5% TCB Cashback and went through a 1% cashback credit card via PayPal for good measure.

Ah, I remember the days of only 2 different passes, where the most expensive was the same as what is now the cheapest... and there were NO restrictions on dates etc. Pretty much the only difference between the two was unlimited drink refills and free parking.

This is exceptional value for money. Great deal

Are the 3x share the fun vouchers included with the top pass free or still paid for by your friends / family?

    Thanks

Am I right in thinking you still have to book online before turning up, even with your season pass? If so, What's the availability like at short notice?
    Belsi's avatar
Can’t comment on Alton towers but Trafford centre sea life never had a problem. I normally book legoland 24/48 hours before (edited)

Don’t bother most key dates are out
    SJ_16's avatar
    Depends on the pass

The having to book would put me off. Should just be able to rock up especially like Thorpe Park etc
    sprite127594's avatar
We had gold about 6 years ago and never booked anything. Apart from London eye and Blackpool circus I think. Went to Alton towers loads. I'm sure at the time someone said you should book but it cost a fiver or something so never did.
  26. bullseye's avatar
So do you have to book in advance to use any of the passes on a given day? Is there an additional cost when booking online if you have a pass? Thanks.
    barginnn.huntaaaa's avatar
No you use your membership number through the portal to book. All free!
  27. barginnn.huntaaaa's avatar
Loved having mine the last year. Used them for off peak dates in between working. Queues were fine, but closer to summer dates and kids coming out of school it’s not worth it.
Great for off peak though, especially if you’re planning to go very often.

It's worth noting if you're hoping to go on Nemesis using fast track. They have stuck in on the most expensive one that is now £130. Also added another five pounds for a digital photo pass, which probably means the staff will be shouting no photos even more as you walk past the screens with your phone out!

They're all watermarked and covered up now. It's quite amusing.

    This is always a laugh:

So if I have a discovery pass and want to go in August, can I just pay abit extra to get my ticket ? Or will I need to pay the full entrance fee
    SJ_16's avatar
You'll have to pay the full entrance fee

Doesn't look like you can get cashback at the usual places, however, if you are on EasyFundraising, they do up to 3% charity donations. Free to sign up - I do it for my son's school but plenty on Charities to choose from.

52430306-klZoj.jpg52430306-dnwQj.jpgThat was the cashback that has tracked for me at Quidco for a discovery pass. They have also matched TCB cashback of 10% so when it uplifts the London Eye cashback will be £6.50 plus the bonus £10 making my discovery pass £62.50

I clicked through to London Eye then purchased the Merlin annual pass from that site to get the cashback (edited)

Can anyone tell me how far in advance you would need to book Alton Towers tickets with a silver pass? I’m assuming passholder days are booked up with Nemesis reopening. No point buying the pass if I can’t use it anytime soon!

From past experience (last year) I was always able to book all the attractions on the dates I needed including booking the day before.
Whilst in London at the end of December we had booked many attractions but decided to go to the London dungeons as we walked past. We had not booked but just walked up, scanned our passes (silver) and walked in.
    Hope this info helps.
As silver passes are mainly off peak I do not think you will have any issues booking.
