I put together two discussions - One on free games and demos for the Quest 2/3 and other headsets and the other on lists of the best VR games ("Games frequently mentioned for casual entertainment include Beat Saber, Pistol Whip, Walkabout Mini Golf and Superhot VR. More campaign-focused games include Half-Life: Alyx, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners and Red Matter").

I'm noticing the silicon covers popup for around £5 on ebay for those who want them. (edited)

Support for the original quest ends in April 24, The quest 2 will be retired a year later so its a paperweight in April 25. So you have to understand you have about a year of use. Might be better to wait and get a deal on the 3.

Great value. I paid similar a few years back on an Amazon deal. Quest 2 is a great stepping stone into VR as an epic price point. 128GB enough for everyday use. Get a 3-5m usb cable with a pull up resister (Anker, Powerline USB 3.0 to USB C Charger Cable (10ft) with 56k Ohm Pull-up Resistor) for charging while playing. Can also pair this with CableCreation Active USB 3.0 Extension Cable. Life Alyx definitely recommended plus check out UEVR by Praydog with something like Ride 4/5 as mind blowing. Also can be configured with other games that don’t support VR out of the box. vorpX also very good for this. No brainer at this price point so you won’t feel too bad if you don’t use it as much. Pico and quest 3 are very nice upgrades but really comes down to budget. (edited)

How long should the battery last on it own?

Where can I see the catalogue of games/experiences ?Also what's free & the current prices .

Owned all the oculus headsets up to this one and if your a pc gamer go for the pico 4 far superior in image quality. Worth the extra cost.
    DannyT691's avatar
Agreed! I was lucky to get a Pico 4 for £99

VR hasn't really made it big in a public unfortunately, I remember the BBC showing some World Cup Football matches in VR in 2018 (and it worked well on my Oculus 1 or whatever it was called), hasn't been anything like that since from major broadcasters as far as I know.
    ALennon25's avatar
There is a Sky Worlds app that shows a lot of Premier League games in VR. It's brilliant, but I stumbled on it completely by accident. It's not really advertised anywhere or spoken about.

Never explored VR so this would be a first however motion sickness is an issue. I even feel sick on the tea cup rides at Thorpe Park. Am I going to struggle with this?

Just have some ginger before playing

How much of the screen space has "the zuck" dedicated to adverts?
    vornstar13's avatar
    None, hope this helps.

52484904-hteAc.jpgDoes anyone know when they'll do this for the Quest 2?
    xxxman123's avatar
Possibly in 1.5 years as it was released 1.5 years after Quest 1.
  11. thecresta's avatar
Just been playing Red Matter - blown me away how interactive it is.

Couple of tips: I've found a bag of Gin Gins helps overcome any sickness, and I have a tube of Polywatch ready for if my glasses scratch the lenses.

Is their website just being slow or does the code not work anymore? I can't seem to apply it
    iTisYaBoiii's avatar
Ah this is funny, uBlock Origin was blocking the pop up for applying the code. Turned it off and works immediately

Anyone know who EE use as courier? I'm never home to take deliveries so need a good courier that allows you to control delivery
    captainbeaky's avatar
It varies. In my limited experience cheap small items are sent via Royal Mail & more valuable items are sent via DPD.

Great piece of tech but the quest 3 is much, much better, although sadly much more expensive.

Ive been a VR enthusiast since very early days so enjoyed each jump forward in the tech but the 3 has brought my enthusiasm back its so good.

If you can stretch to a 3, get one.

Originally bought an Oculus Rift S in 2019 - 2nd hand, then sold it a couple of years later. I didn’t think the software developed quite as much as it could, and got a bit bored of it. I didn’t want an obsolete bit of kit collecting dust, so banged it out on Ebay.

With this new deal, I’ve just bought this Quest 2 brand new, for the less than I actually sold the Rift for in 2021. I’m looking forward to seeing how much things have really developed, and if it properly draws me in. I still have access to the old games from Oculus days, so will use them first to get back in the swing of things.

If I don’t get back into it, ebay will come in handy again later this year for a Xmas bargain !

This is a great deal for dipping your toe back in, or trying for the first time. Also bought the Elite Strap with it, which also attracts the discount.

Play Half Life Alyx if you have a Good Gaming PC
You'll realise deva should need to believe and experiment but as we know they like doing the same every year never innovating

Obviously you'll have a greater leap with Quest 3 but that's like £450 (edited)

Im contemplating buying a quest 3 or 2 x quest 2 so me and my wife can play 2 player games

Edit: woooow you guys interpreted this differently (edited)

Oh dear, the fire sale of the Q2 continues, and there are going to be a lot of unhappy new Q2 owners when the Q3s appears for £250 this summer. lol
    EndemicAlarm's avatar
It's not gonna happen anywhere close to £250.

Also the Quest 2 still substantially outsells the Quest 3, they're not going to cannibalise that.

It is reduced just £19? I don't understand why it is extra extra hot? Maybe they put 1000 hotness automatically?

I posted a message 1 day ago asking for advice for a complete newbie. Someone very kindly posted a reply, which I couldn’t fully take in due to being away and just having my mobile to read it. I logged on in order to thank the person for the extremely detailed and helpful reply to my message, which helped me make an informed decision to order the Item. However, the person’s long reply has disappeared. If the person who replied is reading this, I just want you to know I am very grateful for the time you spent helping me. It is much appreciated. Hmm considering this as an upgrade the Rift CV1 as a means to go wireless but really don't want to commit to anything more from Meta... Decisions decisions

Will this be a waste of money if I instantly want the Quest 3? Would mostly be using for simracing and was hoping it may hold out until the 3s. Another amazing deal that is probably too good where I will probably sit on the fence and not bother 😄
