Seems the key factors are
-do they stay in
-are they comfortable
-do they block external sound (if walking outside, this may NOT be a safe feature)
Let's face it, the cheapies will have bad mics, mediocre quality for music- but many of us don't need the mic, and would choose other ways to listen properly to music.

I'm not sure if it's normal for the price point, but attempting to set volume at over 80% resulted in distortion, I could have coped with that since I'm not bothered about blasting at full volume, but the battery only lasted 45 minutes on the first full charge.
After a few discharge and recharge cycles, this had increased to around 2 hours, but after a week of daily use one of them stopped working completely and now refuses to output any audio.
Luckily the seller gave me a refund without asking for them to be returned.
