This or an 8Gb 4060..... At the moment, the DLSS3, AV1 encode and lower power draw of the 4060 is winning the fight, but this price point on a 12Gb 3060 gives pause....

The 3060 (especially MSI and ASUS) can be undervolted with no issues and you gain performance by doing so. The 12GB memory is not only 4GB more than the 4060, but it's also much faster. And, it's also not limited to a 128-bit bus. It's 192-bit with the 3060.

I have this exact 3060 in an ITX spare room build, and with a mild undervolt I took it from 170w max, to 130w max. That's with a +800 OC to the memory.

    It's a very efficient card.

DLSS3.5 is also on the 30 series, but you do not get the frame generation aspect that is on 40 series. For me, I'd be far more worried about having a pathetic 128-bit bus and slow 8GB VRAM than that, personally. (edited)

When you look at DLSS compared to FSR. 12 GB VRAM compared to 8 GB. Energy consumption, temps, and undervolt capability compared to high energy consumption, temps, and finicky undervolting. 192-bit bus compared to 128-bit but.

A few important reasons why this 3060 is still a far better option than any similarly priced AMD offering like the 6600/XT, 6500/XT cards. (edited)

To much one sided FB'ing here Jenson both AMD & NVIDIA have their pro and con's.

Worst thing I hate is being ripped off and Nvidia are so good at price hiking they not gonna get my money for a long time, they went greedy after GTX10's

    Easy breakdown
If you like gimmicks to your FPS go with Nvidia, if you want value to your FPS go with AMD, it is as simple as that. (edited)

How does this perform for games like Fortnite? Sons birthday and his current card isn’t cutting it anymore. Thanks

It should run really well, how well depends on res and which ray tracing settings you go for, here's a video covering it:

Make sure your PSU + PSU are up to the task

Look at the performance of ALL Ngreedia cards in Starfield and weep. No, this is NOT because of an AMD 'sponsored' title. But yes, it is because it is honestly coded to the hardware of the PS5 and Xbox consoles that AMD designs (Ngreedia not having the competence to compete in SoC console design).

AAA titles going forward will run increasing worse on Ngreedia solutions- because of all the compromises Ngreedia uses in pure raster methods. There is good reason Ngreedia has to push anti-gaming gimmicks like fake frames and AWFUL ray-tracing algorithms (rather than light weight skillful algorithms).

    Drop another £50 and it's a deal.

Before crypto mining that I would have said "what fool spends over £100 on a graphics card?"

Snap this up before the miners swoop in! I assume mining still goes on as the price hasn't dropped down to £99.

Decent performance for potato money. Has to be a hot deal.

I've got Cities Skylines 2 to okay in a few weeks, 12GB would be great and I'm super tempted to bite the bullet, reviews everywhere seem bibh praise .

Or is this a better buy? £259 after code.

I think at that price point it's worth skipping this and going to the 3060ti or 6700xt deals posted for £15—20 more.

Took the plunge, delivered just now. All good, rapid. Terrible MSI software though, had to disable it, eating into my CPU on idle, no thanks.

Only tried it on League of legends, solid 480 FPS
