Can you wait- if so WAIT. AMD on the verge of launching a version of the 7900XT with 16GB, and a MUCH lower price. This will lower the price of EVERYTHING that is not a 4090.

Today, it leaked that Ngreedia is converting 4080s to 4070s (same chip, well under 1000 quid). The vastly cheaper (to make) 4070(TI) die is going to have a range of much cheaper 4070 variants. The 4060TI looks like becoming the new 4060 (so I guess the 4060 will become a 4050TI). I'd guess this is in response to AMD releasing the high performance 16GB variant of the 7900XT (same main die- this is NOT the long rumoured 16GB 7800XT, which uses a MUCH smaller main die).

You mean the 7900 GRE strongly rumoured to be a China only release?

Go for the Sapphire 6700xt for £299 from OC. I voted this cold because I think the Sapphire is a better deal.

With the low NVIDIA prices there's no reason to buy a second rate AMD GPU, none what so ever. (edited)

My 6700xt is doing great. No Vram bottle neck , gives similar performance to 3070 and cost a lot less.

Basically whenever you look at an XX50 card from AMD just remember it's just a factory overclocked refresh. At best you're going to get <10% gains and for an additional £50 it's not worth it.

This is a deal in the sense that this particular make and model is usually £20 more but I'd say save your money go for the flat RX 6700 XT and save £50 to put elsewhere in your system or better yet leave it in your pocket

The TRIO version has just dropped in price, I don't believe it's any better, just a smaller form factor?

Specs might be the same, but better cooling means lower temps and less noise and possibly maintaining higher clocks for longer, more overclocking headroom.

Tempted to cancel the 6700XT I ordered from overclockers for this. Worthwhile or better doing a bit of overclocking? (edited)

Not worth the extra £50. The 6750xt is basically an overclocked 6700xt. You can do that for free with MSI Afterburner. Look at the specs and performance comparisons of both. They are very close.

Let's not forget the free Starfield game which comes bundled with certain AMD RX GPUs.

The 6750XT is only 5-10% faster at best in the majority of tests (we are talking maybe a 5 frame advantage).

Not worth the £40+ premium over the 6700XT.

This is tempting! Currently got a 2070 super, is this a worthy upgrade? I have a 1440p monitor with a 165hz refresh rate. Only have a 3600 on a b450 motherboard, will the gen 3 slot be an issue?
    S_Kelly's avatar
It's a good 40-50% faster, you won't notice the difference on a gen 3 slot.
