Good price! San Marzarnos are DOP from mount Vesuvius region. Crush em with some good salt and a bit of EVOO for the most authentic Neoploitan pizza sauce. Dont heat the sauce. Not justified for many other tomato recipes IMO

Nice find. Unfortunately this won't get heat as most people don't appreciate quality food.

I know but as long as people who understand and appreciate what they are take advantage of the price then that is all that matters

Broadly speaking, Brits spend all their money on a house, and then don't have enough money to eat (well). Italians spend their money on eating well, then couldn't give a fig how their house looks.

If you don't know your Cuore di Bue from your San Marzano | suggest you have little to contribute here.

    Hot!

By the same token then, everyone should be buying 34p tins of tomatoes.

There are many levels of quality and variety of toms and they each have a different price. I just happen to like these San Marzano ones for pizza. There are offers on here for the normal Mutti chopped tomatoes (and getting heat and rightly so lol) and I used that link to Amazon and found they were selling at £21 for 6 (£3.50 a tin). I looked up price on trolley and stumbled across waitrose selling at £2.19 which, for the San marzano variety, is the best price by a long way.

£3.50 per tin on Amazon and Ocado so a good saving per tin. Appreciate it is expensive if you just look at it as a tin of tomatoes but these are San Marzano which taste a lot better than ordinary tins of tomatoes. (edited)

I am a big fan of Mutti tomatoes, which is why I have 15 tins arriving from Amazon on Monday. However I only paid 69p a tin and I was genuinely wondering what makes these worth three times the price.

    50887658-4oKXN.jpgI'll stick to these.
    3 tins for £1.

Actually, quite decent for pasta sauces etc.
    6 tins for £2.
What do I spend that extra 17p on?
