I need to dig out several shrubs/bushes and was thinking this type of shovel may be more suited to the task. This was the cheapest I could find this type of shovel.

    If you're doing any digging I would recommend this Fiskars one. Cranked handle and pointed blade make for easy work...will never go back to a normal spade

    But this one is better suited for deeper smaller holes like for fence posts also look for a pair of post hole digging spoons. Easier to pull the soil up.

    look at a manual auger. instead of pressing down, you manually 'drill' down whihc, technically, should make the dig easier!
