Parkside at Lidl are great value tools, highly rated by DIY users and even some professionals. A great way to build up a tool collection at a budget price.

There's a fresh range of them on sale from Sunday 4 February.

I've picked out one example of a cordless 20v hammert drill (Lidl call it an impact driver, which is incorrect) with an excellent 45Nm torque rating for just £24.99.
lidl.co.uk/p/p…662

If you don't already have a battery and charger these are available for just £24.99 the pair (you won't need a battery and charger for every cordless tool in your collection); 20% off if you have the Lidl App and buy a tool at the same time!
lidl.co.uk/p/p…659

There's a cordless sabre saw or a combined Jigsaw/sabre saw at £29.99 each; a cordless circular saw at £44.99 and even a cordless heat gun at £24.99.

A 4Ah battery for the high consumption tools is just £24.99

I have a collection of tools on the WORX platform and have been pleased with them but the equivalents to these Parkside items are at least double the price, often much more!

Until they start selling the brushless models, I'm not gonna buy anymore parkside tools.

Fair enough IF your use pattern justifies the extra cost. I have some brushless tools but can't say they offer me a benefit.

This is so obvious I assume it's a daft question, but here goes

Has any company thought about doing the following as a business:
Create a range of standard/default batteries for cordless tools.
then create a whole range of slim adaptors to fit specific products.

So I may sell perhaps 6 different batteries, and 100 slim adaptors so that normal people can just buy my batteries to use with all their devices, and when they buy something new, they only need to buy my cheap adaptor to allow their new device to take my batteries they already own.

Seems so obvious, someone must have done this. Yes/No ?

On paper it makes sense but the charge controllers and other electronics for various brands make universal compatibility impossible. There are some battery adapters available, one company called Badapter, but only a few of the bigger brands are covered and there is a risk of damaging the tool or battery.

It’s a hammer drill, not an impact driver, and there’s something very wrong about it’s claimed 26.,400bpm hammer rate.

I agree (hence why I put 'combi drill' in my description but that is how Lidl describe it. Maybe I should change my headline.

    Changed now. Thanks! (edited)

Got this one ...nothing special but ok for light work...the parkside impact driver and the portable SDS drill Iv e got are great ...done loads of work with both with no bother (edited)

Yeah I have this drill and is good for general light use but for drilling into house block it’s a slog. Even a corded  Bosch hammer drill I have struggles. Normally get the hole drilled but often leaves a mess and is bigger than it should be.

Got the park side sds drill recently and so far it’s like a hot knife through butter. Anyone who needs to drill into block/brick etc should get both the drill in this deal for general use and the SDS for heavier lifting jobs.

I had my eyes on the Sabre Saw for a few years now, planning to go pick it up today - but I've just asked myself, what will I use it for?

I originally wanted it to cut tree cuttings down to size (so they fit into the bin) but I purchased the Parkside telescope chainsaw which does a really good job.

Any other uses for the sabre?

EDIT: Also noticed they have the 2 in 1 (jigsaw & sabre) - Although I recall reading a while ago this was flimsy. (edited)

I've used mine extensively with a long blade for cutting through tree and shrub roots so they can be removed.

20% off batteries if buying a tool through Lidl plus app (edited)
    94Paul's avatar
It's 20% off only one battery and it's one time use per customer

Also just an FYI, if you purchase a battery and a charger, you'll only get the 20% off the cheapest item.

    So if you buy a £39.99 tool, a 4.5a battery £24.99 & a £12.99 charger you'll get a grand total of £2.58 off (for the charger)

Shady advertising, I wasn't impressed. Took 15 minutes to get that £2.58 off because they kept the batteries in the store room due to theft, so the cashier had to go and get it

All my tools are Parkside, been buying them for years and I must say, they haven't let me down yet.

I went mad in Lidl yesterday. Hammer drill, reciprocating saw and multitool together with a worklight - all for just over £90. All in hard cases, all seem outstanding quality. I've already got the batteries so why not.
The multitool even has a quick release head which I've not seen before on the cheaper tools.

I like parkside tools, very good price and quality ratio in my opinion 👌

I have a mix of cheap power tools and would rate them in this order (best first): Ferex, Parkside, Skil, Bauker, no reason to pay silly money for any of them as they come up on sale from time to time. Parkside annoyed me by moving from 18V to 20V with identical looking tools but no interchangeability of batteries and chargers, BTW, but they are reliable and battery life is quite good, My corded Parkside SDS ended up with a bit seized in the chuck but some WD40, careful taps with my favourite hammer and a lot of swearing did free it up after several tries.
    Digitaleclipse's avatar
Just curious, why did you rate Ferrex above Parkside? Was it due to the battery compatibility issue you describe?

It comes with -20% on battery if you buy any 20 v tool

Shame there's no Parkside performance lineup in the UK, great tools.
    Gkains's avatar
I though they had some in one week's specials a while ago.

But yes, lidl.de have their whole range of Parkside stuff online, and there are lots of Performance tools AFAIR in both 20V and 12V.
  12. Whiteside's avatar
Lidl Parkside tools I think are really good for the normal person. I notice the batteries have went up quite a bit over last year or 2 but with the amount of different tools they do in that 20v range you will no doubt soon have a nice selection to cover most tasks.

My recommendation would be buy the

Cordless hammer drill - general light drill and driver work
Cordless Impact driver (a beast) - just be careful you don’t damage what you are screwing into - this thing can go full Nic Cage if you let it
Cordless SDS drill - for drilling into hard block, brick etc. (edited)

Don't suppose you bought any of the £35 8ah batteries in the Lidl NI deal?

Like I said in the headline AND text - doh! If someone already has Parkside kit they may not want another battery and charger but they're cheap if they do and included in the link. (edited)

I have the combi tool kit, it's the handiest kit to have around for the DIYer. Worth every penny, and get more use out of it than most of my other tools.
    94Paul's avatar
Is this the Parkside 20V 3-in-1 Cordless Combi-Tool for £39.99 you are referring to?

How good is the circular saw?

I have a 120mm worx circular saw and its good for light stuff but struggles with the heaver stuff
    Slavedave0's avatar
I have it and it is useful within is limitations. Good for times when you aren't near a power supply. I have trimmed doors and sheet wood up to 18mm but it struggles a bit - you just have to go slower. Definitely need a 4ah to cut anything substantial since it goes through a full charge quite quickly. I like it. I have their track saw for more substantial work which is very good as well.

Does this mean they've discontinued the old range?
    Besford's avatar

No. They just bring out a revised range from time to time, often including items from the previous range.

Does any random battery plus charger work? Or does it have to be a park side brand one
    Whiteside's avatar
Has to the parkside one afaik.

And the reason all the batteries for tool brands seem to be different and non compatible is that it encourages you to stay with that brand when you buy other tools. Makes sense from a business point of view actually. (edited)
  22. randomusername7605281935's avatar
Wouldn't call these a new range. They seem to be the same old stuff but just cycled in and out. The drill looks identical to the one that's often on sale going back a couple of years. Most cordless stuff comes on sale at least once of twice a year so it's not huge deal if you miss these, it just means you'll have to wait another 4-8 months before the same product is added again.
For what it's worth the drill is very good in general imo, and for the price it's just insane. The normal cordless jigsaw they sell is very good too, better than my old £80 cordless jigsaw from one of the more main brands. So if you want a known good jig saw then maybe wait for that one to pop up again instead of getting this hybrid. Very tempting to get the circular saw this week but it's £45 which is a lot more than i'd expect for parkside but it would be nice to have to more or less complete my cordless collection.
Also the hard boxes/cases they come in are very nice, sometimes not even £80 tools from the main brands come with hard cases and yet £20 parkside cordless tools do.
  23. misiokicio's avatar
got plenty of their tools now, just a shame we cannae get their performance range in UK
  24. kevin.ellard's avatar
Does anyone have any comments on the cordless sander? It seems a bit expensive at 49.99 but perhaps something that can do random orbital cost proper money.
  25. EazyDuz's avatar
I wanted the impact driver but nothing in store
  26. kayleigh25's avatar
Could someone please help a clueless female when it comes to drills! I was stood in Lidl this morning looking at these as I wasn't sure what type of drill I would need, ended up not getting anything ha.

I'm mainly wanting one for jobs like putting shelves etc up around the house nothing too heavy. My walls are brick, would this cordless impact drill at £24.99 be sufficient? Or I wouldn't mind paying the extra for the 3-in-1 cordless combi tool if that was also suitable? as the extras would come on useful. I already have the batteries as I have some of the garden tools from Lidl. Thanks

If you're sensible enough to ask the question then you're not 'clueless'!

Yes, this should do what you want very well. Get some good quality masonry drills, wall plugs and screws and you should be fine. Take your time if you haven't done anything like this before. I'm sure there'll be advice on YouTube if needed.

The three in one is less powerful but would probably manage the job if you want the other functionality but I'd always advise getting the right tool for the job so maybe start to build up a collection - they're cheap enough at Lidl! (edited)

Any ideas if all this is still in the store? After debating for a week, I want the saber saw. Will pop down tonight, but rather save a trip in case
