just be aware if you arent good on your feet that this area is very hilly.

I found it a bit of a sleazy area too.

Cheapest 4 nights is £500 for two? Presuming that relies on Eurostar £70 fare, leaves £360 for the hotel.

Thats not bad, but the hotel is very far North. I’m guessing most people would want to go sights that would involve daily travel.

Id look into where you want to go and check if you can pair a cheap Eurostar fare with a more central hotel. It will cost more but save commute time and generally give you nicer vicinity to spend your time in the mornings/evenings.

Took the kids recently for a week and stayed near opera/place vendome . Everything they wanted to see was walkable or at most a ~€10 Uber fare. (edited)

Paris is quite spread out, where ever you stay you will probably be using RER/Metro a lot. I stayed in Trocadero district but this is still a fair way from Louvre/Notre Dame/Quartier Latin. And of course Montmarte is a fair way north. You want to go to Versaille - 30-40 minutes. 45 minutes out to Marne La Vallee for the kids.

Monmartre is the best part of Paris. The people there are much more friendly than other parts. I stayed at some fancy old hotel but if I go back it will be to Montmartre and get taxis or metro in depending what I want to do.

This is not Montmartre (five métro stops away).
I studied at Porte de Clignancourt for a year (and lived in Paris for most of my life).
I love Paris, but this is one of the most dangerous areas of Paris (think muggings and syringes)

Used to livee not far from here in the 18th. This isn't the best street in the world from experience, but as long as you can see past the stuff in the gutter and all the rest then you'll be fine. Heat. (edited)

i dont think you can see past stuff in the gutter unless you walk around blindfolded and only stick to the central parts. Worst city IMO.

Crazy expensive. For two with the food and drinks will sit at no less than £1000 for 4 night experience. Paris is overrated it is worse than London. For this amount of money you can go to the Maldives
    Grazz0r's avatar
You can get to the Maldives return and hotels for £338? What's your evidence for that?

Yeah, not a great location. I walked through Barbes/La Chappelle and have never walked a faster pace in my life.

Montmartre is lovely, but stray into the wrong surrounding streets and it gets sketchy

haha yeah, Montmartre is very sketchy

Maybe not the best deal. Eurostar and Accor Hotels both have sales at the moment so it might be better to get these separately, and you'll probably be able to get a closer hotel.
