This is a bit off topic but what do you think is the best bang for buck upgrade to a redmi note 8 pro currently?

Probably a Note 10 Pro if you can get it at the right price under £130. The best offers usually are from Xiaomi direct or Amazon on Prime day, Black Friday, Christmas etc. (edited)

The pro is significantly better. Better screen, more RAM, better construction, better sound, better camera, faster charging. (edited)

Depends what they're playing, but no. Not generally speaking. Having said that, most phones will play most games. Just at different settings levels. You just have to fiddle about with the in game menus if it feels a tad sluggish. Lower the graphics. That kind of thing.

Its a great phone but i'm hesitant to buy as its got 2gb less ram than my Realme X2 and according to Android Authority 6gb is the minimum ram you want in a budget phone.

And and i'm not sure if its much of an upgrade over my current phone but i'm willing to be proven wrong

    Totally agree technokeenan.

To put things into context, my 7 year old OnePlus 3, has 6GB ram.

A relative who is a pretty basic user asked me to help them buy a new mobile to replace their ageing Samsung J3 as it is really not cutting it anymore.
I suggested a budget of up to £130 to get a mobile which would meet their typical needs for the next couple of years or so.
Trying to get the best possible spec for the budget and longevity it appeared to come down something like the Poco M5 or even M5s if possible.
The deciding factors to choose this was:

    - Sticking to the original budget, so tempting to say for another £20-30 you could have X/Y/Z - but not likely to be of benefit to a basic user
    - The relative newness compared to mobiles with similar specs currently available from other manufacturers for the same price
    - It should be good for updates over the next 18 months or so - they probably won't notice or care about updates, but at least it will get security updates etc
    - The fact that this is 128GB rather than 64gb - I think the 128GB will be one of the main things that give it maximum longevity (I know it only has 4GB of RAM but they have no interest in games so the most taxing things on it will be WhatsApp and News apps)

Anyway job done and hopefully a happy user for a couple of years.

Looks like it. It was "mi daily pick". It will probably come round again knowing Xiaomi!
