Think you've got some prices wrong here. Tesco is £4.50, same as amazon, and wilko is showing £5.50

Edit: Tesco are now showing clubcard price at £3 (edited)

It will make up to 40 litres of summer screenwash 100ml will make 2 litres and you will get 20 lots from the 2 litre bottle. Been using this stuff for years diluted as instructed it does the job fine. It's just the winter mix that you have to tinker with. It does say use it neat. But the temperatures might not get that cold in some areas of the UK. It used to be up to -24 on the bottle until around 3 years ago. So you'll save £15.50 compared to buying 8x 5 litre pre mixed bottles at £2.50 each. (edited)

Right, the cheaper ones may be a false economy. I'll quote a review for Tesco's own brand screenwash on their website.

The bottle shows a badge saying -10c and in big letters says CONCENTRATED. Well it is both but it's also neither at the same time. If you dilute it 1 to 4 as it suggests then it's only good down to -2c. To get -10c you need to use it neat [undiluted].

-2 is a joke for UK winters, so it won't go as far as you think and may be more expensive than you think.

£3 at Tesco is a steal, cheaper than their own stuff, and their deionized water is cheap to go with it so I'd just go there if you can. (edited)

Would it be a bad idea to use this stuff with tap (hard) water?

I’ve always used this with tap water (10+ years) and it’s been fine

40 mile round trip to Tesco for some of us so I’ll take it for the sake of £1.50

Not a chance you can make 50l for proper cleaning results even in summertime. Tried it few years ago, but did not like its cleaning power, smearing windscreen with brand new wiper blades fitted and smell is horrible, even when sprayed driving at 60mph. Only using Sonax Extreme Clear View, best of the best. 250ml makes 25l of screen wash and at winter months just add some 99% isopropyl alcohol-works a treat.

Why would it be a bad idea?

The tap water in my area is very hard - I'm thinking specifically about the hard water - could it cause long term limescale damage to the reservoir or would it not really have any noticeable difference to using bottled/softened water

Whats the difference between this and PRESTONE PSCW0028A apart from ones 2.5l and the other is 5l
    Mooney70's avatar
    Mooney70
Well this one is only 2 litres not 2.5 litres. But without checking apart from the size. The larger one will most likely be pre mixed or have a much lower working temperature?

Why faff about with diluting and buckets when you can buy a supermarket brand 5l bottle and just pour it in.

A 2 litre jug of water after you’ve added the concentrate is a lot easier than trying to balance a 5 litre ‘bottle’ to avoid the contents ending up on the floor. It’s also a lot easier to store than a 5 litre bottle

I've used this it's fine, doesn't clog. So same stuff they use at my local garage. I paid over £7 last time, heat for this.
