I gave my two cards a quick check and the second one was running at 800MHz, which is less than half the rated speed. Great if you want to save power but awful performance. I was able to copy the vbios from the other one, but if anyone else has this problem and they bought one card it wouldn't be so easy. If anyone does have this issue feel free to message me and I can send a copy of my vbios.

Nice work. It's a bit shoddy of the seller though. I'm not sure about LEXINDAR as a brand. The card I bought from Ali was a used Sapphire so I kinda knew what I was getting.

What tools did you use to flash the vBIOS?

Just wanted to let everyone know AliExpress are very good with their customer service. They've sided with me every single time so far.

Same here, any issue was always sorted out in my favour.

Got one of these last time and they’re not fake, give your head a shake ya sausage.

They’re rehashed from old and new bits, give ‘em a YouTube.

They’re rehashed from old and new bits

That sounds reassuring of quality and longevity

If these are legit RX580 8GB then it’s a good price, I’d be very wary these aren’t fakes however - least you have PayPal to fall back on if they are!

NO- they are not fakes. GPUs are a LOT cheaper than you'd think when you go to the right places.

These are a form of 470/570, which is better since the 580 was terribly overvolted and overclocked. The 470 was the sweet spot for this GPU die. For newer games, the 470 level of performance is obsolete now, being around 50% of the 6600M. The 6600M struggles at 1080P with good settings at 60fps in 2023 games.

Of course, it is 60quid for the '580', around 150 for the 6600M or 5700XT. To double performance again and be safe at 1440P, one has to leap to near 500 quid for the 6800(non-xt).

The new Jedi game is almost out, and testers have found even the 3060TI (a somewhat cut down 3070) doesn't cut it. PC gamers are currently facing 400 quid as a minimum for an 'acceptable' GPU (for 1440p gaming).

What do you guys think about picking up one of these.

I'm not in any rush as things stand but I'm wondering if you think that once these have sold out, there'll be a similar option (cost/price) or if I may as well pull the pin and grab one now? I've got a Gigabyte Gaming X B550 mobo, 5600G and 16gb Ballisitx (e-die) which I've just finished setting up and figure it'll last me a solid 5+ years (as long as nothing dies) for regular usage, but I'd be needing a GPU if I want to do a little gaming.

I dont game on my pc but I'm not really using my Xbox Series S and I think I'll probably sell it before the resale prices drop any further (I should be able to sell it for what it cost me).
    bryanhaines399's avatar
I've been buying these for months. I've been getting two at a time and did wonder if I should be buying more in case they run out.

They've been selling thousands of them but the question is how sustainable is that. I don't know but there are warehouses in China which are full of thousands of cards mining away.

If in doubt get one, and you won't be disappointed when they do sell out.

Alternatively, keep an eye on known branded ones on eBay and you can get them cheaper if you're lucky. Have a look at recent sales to get an idea, then set a max price you'll bid and stick to it. If you're in no rush it's far easier to pick up bargings by doing that.

I'm pleased to see we have a good amount of members who are buying ex-Chinese mining GPUs and another good amount of members who are cautious and sceptical. I personally would buy a used GPU from AliExpress if everything looks reasonable and there are plenty of reviews. I have a healthy microbiome so I don't get too tense taking risks and exploring new areas. The only thing that surprised me is that the free shipping got the card from China to London in 7 days.

I have a different ex-Chinese mining card that has been flogged to death for years but it looked almost new when it arrived and passed every stability test I could throw at it. Hot spot temps were high 90's when the card was pegged at 99% for an hour, and the fans had a slight grating to them when running a slow 900rpm, clearly had gritty bearings but can be fixed. Replaced the grey goo substance with MX-6, sweet!

ex-mining cards that have been bios-flashed. These have most likely been flogged to death in a crypto-mining farm and should come with a canary and a Davey lamp.

I got two of these yesterday for £56 each. I didn't bother posting as I CBA with the drama queens who don't know anything about graphics cards posting nonsense.

For those on the fence, perhaps worried about actually receiving the items, I had a pop up from AliExpress saying that they advise paying after receipt of items. Never seen this option before.
    iDealYou's avatar
"after"? The seller willing to send before payment, hmmmm ... I'm sceptical.

Not fake. The GPU chip themselves have been put onto brand new PCBs, hence refurbished. Great deal for a budget 1080p setup. Stick this in a prebuilt Dell Optiplex, happy days!

Is the warranty 90 days on this, not used Aliexpress before? And at £57 will this mean no duty to pay?
    Thanks.
    bryanhaines399's avatar
That's the price after pre paid taxes.

The warranty is seller specific. They say they have a 3 year warranty but I don't know how easy it would be to get your money back in reality. (edited)

    A... 2048 shader 580?

    So, a 570 then?
    Akshai_Raj's avatar
This is a cut down version.

Performance will be between 570 and 580.
  24. jonagon's avatar
I've had my eye on these.

The poster saying it'd take £500 to double the performance.

Would the RX580 be an upgrade from a 1060? What about a 1060 3GB? Looks like double the 32 bit floating operations which is how techpowerup ranks them.

I've been researching the 580. Seems a bit power hungry TBH. Why are people above saying this will be a 470/570/480? Are they not the 580 as advertised?

One more thing. My screen goes black for a couple of seconds a couple of times a day (14h). Sounds like a PSU issue right?
    fishmaster's avatar
You're buying a recycled piece of crap from China which isn't even the model they say it is, this isn't an RX580 it's an RX570 so bear that in mind when purchasing.

    2nd hand AND aliexpress !
    What could go wrong ?
    Rumcajs_9's avatar
    Pretty much nothing.
  26. Sickyman678's avatar
    Reviews look fine
  27. Derby_Lad's avatar
I'd be confident that they'll be a 580 alright. Just the mining version, so they've got less shaders than a normal one .

The mining crash has flooded the market with them
    Arkz's avatar
Mining version is just a 570 with a 580 sticker really. They even say "Now we have different models of RX580 2048 with different GPU chips RX 470 480 570, unless you told us the specific model, or we may ship them randomly."

    No, really?
Mining cards are normally undervolted and run cooler anyway.
Rather that than a 2nd had card that's been overclocked and thrashed to death for gaming. (edited)

Seller suggest you will receive a random GPU of 470, 480 or 570, would I be right in asking for GPU 570? Also, if advertised as RX580 why are the GPUs offered not 580?
    Thanks
  31. TheDodger's avatar
Heat OP ignore the ill informed. Some of these ex mining cards can be a great deal. a 580 for £58 is fantasitc these days. After watching a LTT video on the mining version of the 1060 the p106 i picked one up for a friend in 2017 for around £60 from china he got plenty of life out of it

looks good. alright if you just need a gpu for less demanding games. still a solid card. these a likely refurbished/remanufactured cards. they wont be new stock. many Polaris gpus were used to mine Ethereum. when these cards become defective its usually only specific chips that end up bad, usually memory (sometimes its the imc tho). either way theres still working parts spread on cards that have a few bad chips.
  36. oldskoolpug's avatar
Unfortunately my power source is rated at 375w so this wont work for me grrrrrr

Im a total noob at pc builds but are there any other graphics cards i can be on the look out for in this price range ( second hand no bother)
    That arent so power hungry

Or do i need to scrap my power supply ?
