Bargain price for flights to Cape Town, under £300 return! Flights are with Lufthansa from January to March and are from Heathrow with 1 stop in Frankfurt or Munich.

Cape Town is a port city on South Africa’s southwest coast, on a peninsula beneath the imposing Table Mountain. Slowly rotating cable cars climb to the mountain’s flat top, from which there are sweeping views of the city, the busy harbor and boats heading for Robben Island, the notorious prison that once held Nelson Mandela, which is now a living museum. ― Google

I was wondering how safe is it to visit here?

Cape Town is fine, it's the surrounding areas that are dangerous and you have no need to go to those areas. Very touristy and super friendly. Best place I have ever been!

If you want checked luggage, I'd recommend booking direct (it's £30 each way for 23kg).

Not true South Africa beautiful place. Cape Town is not my most favourite place but as for Winelands etc only short drive from Cape Town.

    That's a seriously good price.
If you're thinking about Cape Town, ignore the nay-sayers and doom mongers and just apply a little commonsense. Leave your Rolex at home, don't flash wads of cash around and don't go on a walking tour of the townships.
I have been to various parts of SA a dozen times or so over the last 10 years and never had any problems. Cape Town in particular is a marvellous place to visit.

Probably because of all the riots and power cuts.

    Thanks for posting !

I have been to and from SA regularly since I moved over in 2003 and this will be my cheapest fare to date.

I decided to pay a little extra and book directly with the airline for peace of mind, it seems prices have fluctuated with the booking agents anyway...

February dates should be perfect opp to escape the U.K. winter.
January can be a LONG ASS month.

Booked, but went via travel up for a couple of quid more due to better reviews. Cheers love Cape Town!

Absolute bargain, no good for me with kids in education. Normally pay between £650 and £850 during December. Cape Town is beautiful. .

We're booked on. Excellent deal. £380 each in the end including cases. Couple of things you need to look at......some of the options included short flight stop-overs on the way out - I think one was an hour and another 90 minutes. Both very tight in my books.......Also another extra is seat selection which was £64 per person per flight. We'll wait until nearer the time but just for the long flights, or see where we are allocated......now to find some good deals on hotels and car hire....

    Next year?!

No this year. You just need to find fuel for your flux capacitor.

    Any deals from Manchester?

Went to CT around 20 years ago so can’t comment on what it’s like now.
Back then £ to SA Rand was about 1:20, now about 1:23. Couldn’t spend money there it was so cheap. Steaks that you could cut with a spoon they were so tender. Never felt unsafe (we stayed in Camps Bay).

Only downside was the flight at ~12 hours.
