How easy is it to get through border control these days? I really only want to use Gib as a gateway to a holiday in Spain.

Then just get a flight to Spain. This is about right for most airports in Feb / March because it's not that warm

i bet the runway is an experience, been a few times but only via a coach from Spain, great place to visit though

Yep

If you look out of the window it seems you are landing in the sea. When taking off you are praying that there is enough runway & the plane isn't overloaded.

Even worse is landing in the wind but they tend to divert to Malaga if it is really bad.

Last time I went, maybe 4 years ago, I remember alcohol, especially spirits, being incredibly cheap. Anyone know if it’s still cheap?

Nothing will have changed but Gibraltar still has maximum limits you can bring back. 200 cigs, 1 liter spirits etc

Excellent place to get to Tarifa of you are into your kite surfing. I too remember how cheap the duty-free was at Gibraltar, kicked myself I didn't load up.
I also remember how striking the contrast was walking from Gibraltar into the Spanish bus station across the border, can't remember the name of the town. Very much poorer and more rundown.
