Thanks for posting - this is a good deal.

If you are going to Mexico I would recommend scuba diving in the Cenotes and visiting Chichen Itza
- the all-inclusive hotel experience we had was poor (maybe others fair better) - but I haven't experienced anything like the Cenotes and Chichen Itza anywhere else we've been.

For the Cenotes find a well-reviewed PADI dive school and arrange your own trip.

Hire a car and go early to Chichen Itza under your own steam (avoids the tourist coaches) - get a tour guide at the gate.

Puerto Vallarta is on the pacific coast, so Chichen Itza would be a 2 day trip! That is nearer to Cancun on the Gulf of Mexico.
Fully agree though that Puerto Vallarta is full of drunken loud Americans-really not for me thanks (edited)

Went recently, hotels are full of loud over the top Americans saying how amazing everything is, coffee, the warm beers, the crappy pre made cocktails, couldn't wait to leave
