If you wanted to upgrade to hydraulics later would you also need new shifters?
    Msx98's avatar
Yes fraid so. The hydraulic hoses go all the way into the brifter and need to be air and water tight. So there is a whole new set up inside to accommodate the ends of the hoses. Mechanical disc brakes use the same cables as rim brakes. Simply relying on a cable to be pulled to move the two sides of the brake caliper closer together.

The rim brake version of this bike is £699 + delivery - Link

I'd question why you'd pay £300 extra to have mechanical disc brakes as opposed to rim brakes.

Giev me dual pivot rim brakes every time. Far more braking power than needed, cheap and easy to maintain. In my opinion they look better too. Small, unobtrusive.

Price of bikes mental. Looking at 4 grand for any bike with electronic gearing. Bonkers

Just buy one with mechanical gears then. You'll be just as fast (/slow)

I'm drooling here. That is Sex on wheels. Bought the Vitus Energies at about half the price but only because I was worried about thieves. Won't ever spend a grand on bike no matter how beautiful it is
