They so deserved the reaming they got from the hairdresser loving engineer.

Good bike and decent price but shame it's Tiagra and Ribble CS is awful

I'd give Ribble a very wide berth, an order for my wife has been pushed back constantly, it went from 5 weeks to 5 months getting a refund was challenging. CS is awful. (edited)

Avoid Ribble frames at all costs. Had a number of issues with creaking and cracks. Major manufacturing fault and this was only 3 months ago!! No wonder these e-bikes are cheap!!
  5. DonerKebab's avatar
I'd expect Shimano 105 for this price.
    skdotcom's avatar
105 if it wasnt an e-bike maybe
  6. stevebaloney's avatar
    That's a tidy looking ebike!

    I think so!
I have the similar looking CGR SL. Lovely bike.

Is this worth getting on the cycle to work scheme
    highlandtoffee's avatar
i bought this bike through the scheme last August. I was given a 6 month lead time for delivery but it arrived about 4 months early which was great.

It's a great bike in my opinion but i have to be honest and say it's only the second bike i have ever bought and i am far from an expert. All i know is it helps me up the numerous hills to my work without dying (me or the bike)

I would recommend it and despite having to send the bike back for repair (due to a faulty PAS sensor) the customer service i received from Ribble was excellent contrary to most experiences posted on this deal.

As you are saving the tax on the bike i'd say it's very worthwhile getting through the scheme.

These bikes are amazing, you can also chip them to 20mph but it’ll void the warranty. Get one on ctw if you can with the range extender that looks like a bottle. Here’s mine in carbon.

Wouldn't trust a single build date they offer, there's always often a delay.

Trustpilot gives an accurate view of the ordering experience. Buyer beware.

Bound to be a decent delay on this offer. It depends how many pre built ones they have ready.

    I fancy one myself.

£1600 + for a 13kg aluminium bike with tiagra gear set? That's a lot for a heavy winter bike! I'm out.
    weta46's avatar
It's a pretty decent price for an electric bike, the downside is Ribble's poor customer service.

The crank ones tended to have good torque sensors and are thus classed as high end. There are problems with them too, the biggy being the weight disadvantage, a minor being the maintenance needed.

Motors vary in their reliability, the British weather not being good for cheap none branded ones.
    cyclist.co.uk/buy…ems

It is hard to rate them. Anecdotally, Bosch is very heavily marketed as thus is maybe the most common. Tetva freiends Bosch' was invariably out of service. (edited)
    Mushstaffy's avatar
Thanks for the response, and that's an interesting link! Especially looking at the torque for the motors and amount of assistance coming from the motors!

I will probably ask ribble when their sale ends later, and possibly look into other options as well as visit a bike store to get a feel for the different options

    FAQ
How much does the Endurance AL e weigh?
Our recommended builds tip the scales at 13.0kg for the Shimano spec and 13.4kg for Tiagra.

What is the warranty on the frame?
The frame has a 3-year warranty against manufacturing defects. All other parts have the standard manufacturer's warranty.

How do I select the power assist level?
An easy-to-use button on the top tube enables you to select the required assistance level and displays the remaining battery capacity.

How will I know how much battery I have left?
The top tube button has an LED surround that displays the remaining battery capacity at a glance using a simple colour code. White=75% or more, Green=50-75%, Orange=25-50%, Red=15-25%, Slow Red Flash=10-15% and rapid Red Flash=10% or less remaining. You can also keep track of battery life using the MAHLE SmartBike Systems companion app on a smartphone.

Do I need to pedal to ride this bike?
Yes, our e-bikes are pedal-assisted models which always require rider input.
    C_Mc's avatar
The last question is pointless if they don't even give you pedals as per the pic (edited)

The description is confusing. It mention hydraulic Groupset but then next sentence says it's mechanical brakes. That's pretty important as it's will cost about £450 to change to upgrade to Hydraulic brakes if it's actually mechanical brakes if you did it later on.
    LadyEleanor's avatar
    Author
Yes. It needs correcting to the base. Or maybe it means stuff is hydraulic compatible.

However, it does say mechanical brakes in the cooyvand paste spec. (edited)

Unlikely you could find anything comparable for £2000, never mind £3000.

Easy to suggest they are the UKs number one ebike retailer. (edited)
    dz1's avatar
Chinese ebikes are better than this for a lot less money. They can be unrestricted to go above 20mph while this one will be stuck at 15mph. Both are legal in the UK when restricted, but only the Chinese give you the option to run it faster. 15mph is too slow and boring. So a hard pass for this slow, overpriced UK ebike.

Can I ride this sport e-bike in my local road race?
    Tobias_Winstanley's avatar
Yep you can. You just need to keep it quiet
  16. BrianButterfield's avatar
I look at how fast these bikes are and get jealous...... Then I see the state of the roads and suddenly I know I'm happier with full suspension, fat tyres and a huge seat that I had to buy from the US lol.

What was the order? Did you know that Rose Bikes, apparantly, have 45,000 bikes stuck in store.

What's the range like on these?
Can't see ANY info on that page
(obviously depends on the support you request/require and hills etc.)
and is the battery a pack which can be replaced?
(+ is it available? my pal has a boardman ebike which needs a new battery and Halfords can't source it, has been over 3 months now)

That does look tidy for an e-bike indeed!
  21. LadyEleanor's avatar

Range will be up to 80km max with assist, more with the 2nd battery.
The undiscounted model is available for near immediate dispatch, which hints that this sale model should not take too long post xmas.

Get your mate to check the battery connector type. There are lots of 3rd party batteries out there. (edited)

Hello, I'm considering buying one of these, but I'm comparing it against an EMTB.. Which would be great for cutting through trail routes.. I've heard it's usually nicer to have the motor in the crank, not the hub.. Would this make much difference do you think?
The low weight of this, and the subtleness of the design are certainly tempting as it seems to be around 10kg less than most of the e mountain bikes I've looked at.. Any idea when this sale will end? Thanks

More useful info. The extremely new x20 saves 300 grams but is initially.going on £10,000 bikes. In the mid 12.5 kg range, x35 bikes look about £3000+.
There is low profit at the bottom end so it is highly possible Mahle will want to command Bosch like pricing. (edited)

That is one sexy looking bike. I don't have that kind of money to spend though. Oh woe is me!
  25. Mushstaffy's avatar
So, I ordered one! .. But now I'm considering buying the next one up instead as the dispatch is quick, but also, it has hydrolic brakes.. As it seems quite expensive to buy the brakes and fit them after, do you think it's a better idea to pay the extra 200 from them instead? thanks

What's your delivery date btw? I'm considering ordering but it says the Headset ETA is October 2023?!

Last time I looked they were waiting for the 10 speed brake combi. So if you have on lieing around then there is a chance you can get it early. (edited)
  27. Computernerd951's avatar
Has anyone actually received this spec? Ordered mine just before Christmas with an original date of 10th January they've just moved to mid February, and the quoted time for the headset now is October! 🤦
