Cannot understand why this has been released with only 2.4 Wi-Fi. Seems a pointless release when the doorbell 4 is around. I have a 2 and there is little reason to upgrade to this unfortunately

Interference aside, I think 2.4GHz WiFi has better range. Also, 5GHz consumes more power. I guess this model focuses on reducing the battery consumption, as they also removed pre-roll on this too.

the only thing that puts me off is the subscription, would anyone recommend this over other brands such as eufy?
    dude1974's avatar
Eufy all day long , i have one it replaced my Ring doorbell.

Can someone who has one of these tell me if it can be easily applied to a upvc door. Thanks.
    mansin's avatar
We had same dilemma, the entire porch comes out too much from the wall and entire porch is upvc. I used an extremely strong double sided tape to attach to upvc. Still there after 4 years

I have wired version for over a year can't fault it and I didn't subscribe to the memory storage what I do is if I miss a caller I can check the time and play footage back on a tapo £25; camera I also have pointed at the door from inside the window tapo can store recordings to sd card
But has anyone tried the new tapo video doorbell am tempted to buy it

    This sounds awesome!

Is there anything else that not subscribing stops you from using?

can you still set up motion detection zones so it only looks in a certain area?

I have this attached to the official solar charger, battery is currently at 100%, I wonder how good it will perform in winter month. I hope it won’t let me down. Costco has this + chime for £115? So if you don’t need the chime, this is a good price for a new model. (edited)

The doorbell plus the chime is also 40% off so it’s £102 at Amazon

anyone has experience with Chime Pro? My doorbell is currently complaining about WiFi signal, even though it seems to be function correctly...

Have you considered installing a WiFi analysis app on your device?
Then you can place your device next to your doorbell to see how strong your WiFi is at that location?

    Ordered thx

If you are thinking of buying this and return the Costco purchase (the doorbell + chime offer), you are going to have to physically swap the doorbell and chime. Because the Amazon one comes in two separate boxes. Damn you, Amazon!

    Ordered, thanks.

Just ordered with the chime and still got the discount. Allowed me to pay over 3 months without any interest (edited)

A mate of mine had his Ring nicked from his outside gate. Apparently there's a second hand market for these...
    ken218's avatar
I think Ring replaces it (once), as long as the case is reported to the police. Also, if you don’t release the doorbell from your account, people stole it won’t be able to register it anyway, kind of makes it unusable. I guess the only thing of any value will then be the battery, if it is the quick release kind. (edited)

Is there any monthly subscription I need to take with this?? For recording etc
    myotherusernameisclean's avatar
    Author
Yes for recording. No for notifications and video chats when someone rings. Also live viewing of the camera is free too. (edited)

Does this work with Apple HomeKit?
    JordanEarle's avatar
Not easily. There is a Homebridge Ring plugin that lets you have a live view, but not HKSV.

Scrypted worked until recently when Ring changed codecs and disabled the ability to turn on legacy compatibility mode.

How is the law, particularly in an area where multiple pass. For example, if you live in flat and other pass in front of your house to go to their own flats. Can these people ask you to turn it of as it is against their privacy?
    Kiwi's avatar
No ive read somewhere that no one can force u to remove it

After h'mming an h'ahing decided to go for one of these having had a few delivery problems.
  17. gav_tt225's avatar
could this be swapped out for an older version doorbell and just keep the existing subscription?

Is this for selected accounts only / a limited number of stock?
Shows full price and direct link to voucher URL is no longer available

It doesn’t seem to be account specific. Does this link work? amazon.co.uk/pro…921 (edited)

Tried to complain but nobody has ever got back to me
    Really would not recommend !

I don't think you would have been any better off with Eufy either, similar problems and support.

No idea why I'm not eligible. Tried on my account that has a doorbell 2 (old) on already, my mum's account that has prime and no ring devices at all and a spare account with no doorbell or prime... none are eligible :/

Hi, do your selves a faver and get the wired one, changing out the battery becomes a job, I wish I bought the wired one.
  27. kamikaze1's avatar
I clicked on the one without the Chime, applied the 40% and then realised I actually wanted the chime as well.. Now, is there anyway to "unselect" my voucher and try to apply it to the combo instead? I tried removing it from the basket and adding the combo but the voucher doesnt show up then.. only when I add the doorbell Does that make sense? If i add the Chime separately it is another 30 quid.
