    Bear in mind these are weak bikes with low weight limits. What is strange is on the UK site it links to a manual that says 120kg total weight limit including bike, rider and luggage but exactly the same bike is 100kg from the french site.

    You can check the link to the manual on this page;

    decathlon.fr/p/v…301

    It seems like in the UK they are falsely stating a 120kg weight limit in the manual but for all other markets it is 100kg which they state mustn't be exceeded. Basically Decathlon have the lowest weight limits on the UK market as even 120kg is very low and really its 100kg in other markets. Factor in the weight of the bike plus any accessories you add, your own clothes and any luggage you could well be below 80kg allowance for rider weight.

    Getting back to the bike it has a low end many Microshift drivetrain and so the Vitus Razor road bike at Chain Reaction would be a much better option. If you are a heavier rider perhaps consider a Carrera model. They have a weight limit of 120kg for the rider alone and I think 160kg total weight limit which must not be exceeded. There is a Vanquish model I think with high quality Claris drivetrain full carbon fibre fork for around £400-500. They are stronger better quality bikes and Halfords have not have the numerous frame recalls that Decathlon have had.

    I agree with Vitus Razor being better value but it's an online only brand exclusive to Wiggle and there are three major downsides: 1) you can't check if the bike fits you, 2) you can't get it via cycle to work, 3) really poor availability - I just checked and only 2 sizes are in stock - this is a common problem across all Vitus bikes.

    If you're ok with all that, sure. The Carrera is almost 30% more expensive so it's not a comparable bike. You could always say "spend more on XYX" but where do you stop?
