    Curious....

Is this card here worth and DOUBLE the performance of this card at 1/2 the price?

    hotukdeals.com/dea…107

CONTEXT: Looking for Ray Tracing for Fortnite for my boy. Videos online show Nivida looking great for this....but I'm really ignorant on this topic, so welcome your expert feedback....thanks all

You need to be able to also tell us what resolution/refresh rate you are planning to game at, like if you want 1080p@60fps you can probably get a 3060 and have ray tracing and max graphics, if you want 1080p@120hz or 1440p@60hz you probably want a 4060ti.

If you want 4k all the max settings and ray tracing you probably want a 4070ti or 4080, for other more demanding games you may need a 4090 for 4k@120hz.

To rewind to your original question though, if you REALLY want Raytracing then Nvidia is generally better for it, AMD is pretty good too but takes more of a performance hit to do it. I would take a look at some example vids of ray tracing on and off as in games like fortnight I cant really see Ray tracing doing that much for you, and if you just want to play that game at 1080p@60fps you can get a 7600 for just over £200 and be happy.

I play alot of games, im still using a 2080TI but its fine for now, but I have been using same PC for good 7+ years, so trying to buy good future proof parts for a new build.

had this card on my list for long time, but for the price its defo worth it.
big fan of ROG and there parts/build quality.

ROG nowadays are not what they were, and paying more for the ROG versions is not something I'd do anymore.

Seen this exact card have reports of basic stuff like poor thermal paste application from factory. Meaning high hotspot temps.

My ROG AM5 board came with stuff IN the socket. I'd buy elsewhere these days tbh.

    Get a 4080 for £900 instead.

might be interested in that where are they??

technically the best card based on PCB & XOC headroom but in practice it's maybe 1fps better than the cheapest RTX 4090 - which can be had for around 1300

imho Strix has never been worth the money, and they have a very poor reputation with customer service & warranty - kind of important on the 4090

why would you need this kind of a card for starfield tho? (edited)

They never said they needed it

Good find, I got the Asus rid 4090 yesterday with the deal..

Also don't forget your cash back, mine was.jisy under £100 from top cashback. I saved around £500 overall

I thought about getting a 4090 and if I saw one for 1300 I might have been tempted. But then I would also have to upgrade my PSU. So I got the 4080 and to be honest I didn't even "need" that. (edited)
    r200ti's avatar
What PSU have you got? You can game on 750 if you keep it to vanilla power (and you not on intel!) Admitadly i VR with mine so not always at 100% but i rarely see more than 450w-500w max drawn from my psu.

Or just get the 7900 XTX for £700 less than this

It's hard to justify the cost if you aren't using it for work

Prices jacked up today, time to expire or retitle, but probably will go cold unless u wanna fork out more £ on something already overpriced lol.

Was about to buy this until they greedily put the price up. Oh well saved 1500+ quid. This should be marked as expired now.

This is actually a really-good price for what is probably the best-built RTX 4090 model. If you want the fastest graphics card on the planet, it generally costs a premium - just like the fastest cars. If this could fit in my case, I would order one. (edited)

Got mine from very last week, unfortunately it's going back as the coil whine on this thing was horrendous! Shame as it's really well built and the fans are quiet. The coil whine is just umbearable!
