These run very hot. I bought one a few weeks ago from Argos for the same price. Good, smooth interface with quite a few apps available to install. I use it mainly for YouTube and it hasn't missed a beat.

How do these compare to a Firestick? Our Firesticks seem to get slow broadband speeds even if not far from a router.

Mine is exactly the same, think I'm going to get it from Amazon for the same price and if its no good at least it can go back without any questions.

Get the version with volume control else you’ll regret it. Nothing worse than needing to remotes for general watching.

The main benefit of this device is that it's the only mainstream 4K streaming box that uses an infrared remote. If you plan on dedicating a TV to just streaming with one device than frankly there are better options out there such as the Roku Streambar deal making the rounds or the Firestick 4K Max I've seen others recommend. Both are more feature-rich and the "point anywhere" remotes are much better overall.

However the trump card this unit has for those with a bunch of stuff already plugged into the TV they plan to use it is that due to the "old fashioned" infrared remote, you can program a universal remote to work seamlessly with it. Personally I'm considering pre-ordering a Flirc Skip 1s and picking and picking up one of these 4k express players and an older model soundbar so that I can control my TV, HTPC (used for DVD rips, Karaoke and Retro Games), Roku and a Soundbar all with one remote.
