Android 10, s905x3 and 2gb ram, pricey for the money.

    8gb storage, only wifi n, bt 4.2, and I think only 100mbs rj45.

Like a £15 box max. (edited)

£15 boxes dont have official Google certification which in turn means they can actually play the popular streaming apps in something better than 720p. Along with the fact they will not be running dodgy software and a version of android designed for phones not TV and probably not even having the hardware they claim.

Love the way people say you should get this and that without even using this item I have a Amazon 4k max stick and one of these and this is better by far, Plays your own movies via the usb port you can also add storage without jumping through hoops. Inbuilt lan port, at 48 notes it's by far one of the best streaming boxes and gets OTA updates, fire stick has to reboot after a few days of using Plex as it becomes very laggy no such problems with this box always nice and fluid, Customisable home screen and you can install APK files if you wish, also has a nice remote that's backlit (edited)

You make some good points of the benefits.

    Is this good for Kodi?
    dcx_badass's avatar
It should have Coreelec support so yes definitely, the AMLogic chipsets are the best choice, the Nokia 8010 is even better as you get Dolby Vision Support. But even this one will give you 4k hdr hevc/h265 and raw 7.1 audio. I have a generic box the same spec and can happily stream 120GB rips without issue (with appropriately fast internet).

Only inexperienced people run kodi on android, run coreelec off a cheap decent memory card (32gb kingston canvas select plus) and it'll blow any firetv out the water. (edited)

For how long do you get Netflix, Disney+ and prime video included if you purchase? I assume it's included since it's stated in the title as included...?
    adam.yacub's avatar
I don't think they're included at all, it just provides their service
  6. GLENHESKETH's avatar
I know zero about streaming boxes. Is there a box I can purchase that is pre loaded with everything and ready to go, one that I can just plug in and watch??
    gavin1's avatar
Depends what you want. Many have the big name boxes hae a lot of the apps preinstalled, but you'll still need to buy a suitable subscription and put in your details for the account and your wifi.

There are cheap cheinese boxes sold as having special software installed and "free" TV, but these are generally from streaming illegal sources.

does it work with VPN to watch Netflix?
    xp3200's avatar
    Yes running surfshark on mine

What’s it like for iptv? Fed up of my fire stick seemingly losing connection to ipvanish every single time. Only way I can then fix it is to hard reboot
    vhero's avatar
Get a chromecast with google tv. I run IPTV off of mine with no issues. Both badly suffer with the storage but chromecast is just superior in every way. Plus its a google product so you get the latest updates.

Can you download your own apps on this?
    madel79's avatar
    Always can

i moved from an old nvidia shield to an amazon cube thing never looked back, runs PLEX like a dream
  11. shockwaver13's avatar
The box is very impressive.. smooth and fast! But be warned it only has one USB port on the side.. the rear USB c cannot be used for data transfer.. it's a charging port only for phones which seems absolutely pointless and ridiculous.. who's going to run a cable out of the box just to charge their phone?? And USB c to USB c is not a common cable for a mobile phone either. Silly design imho (edited)

Ordered bbc iPlayer, itv and channel player can’t install from the App Store
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
Have you tried downloading the APK's and installing them that way?
  13. cantonbean's avatar
So many dodgy android boxes that were data mining so this is definitely worth it as Android has some good advantages over fire os. I use and own lots of smart streamers but the chromecast TV and Apple TV are the best for a variety of reasons. Android 4.2 is only just being dropped from most applications updates so Android 10 will be fine for years! (edited)

If you use it with the 15% off electrics Amazon offer that was on here recently it's £40.72. Great box for that price.

    Can it run Snake?

    It's Nokia.
If it can't, send it back. Something wrong with it

Specs and price don't make sense
    kobirulali's avatar
In what sense? It's comparable to Chromecast and Firestick but has the benefits of more ports and connections (edited)

I run Surfshark on my firestick 4k . Works perfectly when travelling about

8GB storage... Android will take up like 2gb leaving you 6gb. With apps passing the 1GB mark and netflix cache willing up quickly you will run out of room on this in no time. Can get 4-5 apps on it. If your using for just netflix and prime for example its great but there are cheaper options like the firestick or google chromcast with tv (always on sale for cheaper than this).
    BodisBest's avatar
My fire stick max filled up, just before it kicked the bucket at 10 months, maybe a dozen apps on it. Bought the cables and memory stick to expand the memory. Would have been easier if I could have just plugged something straight in.

Can you use Nord vpn on this and get the F1TV app?
  22. hearts's avatar
No Wifi would be a big fail for me.
    xp3200's avatar
Of course it has Wifi 😁

What's this like in comparison to a Nvidia Shield device?
    nublets2k's avatar
Weak, but also a quarter of the price.
  24. deleted2879431's avatar
    Or a firestick?

    Is this better than Chromecast?
    C0mm0d0re_K1d's avatar
Chromecast is for streaming stuff from another Android device to your tv. This is a Android TV or Smart TV box, similar to a firestik, Roku etc.
  26. milzy91's avatar
Better of getting firestick or chromecast tv
  27. UZZI54's avatar
Can't spend more than a tenner or max £15 on them
    twiggy9999's avatar
You won't be getting anything Google Certified at that price.

Recently bought a Zidoo X9S - as my new TV cannot play some of the 4k files I have compared to my old TV (no audio issue) but as awesome as that is - the thing is bright silver with aerials sticking out and it looks absolutely daft in my AV centre which is all white shelves with black equipment. Im thinking of getting this - but is there an app which will auto source all of the images and posters + information re the movies on my HDD like the in-built proprietary app that is on the Zidoo? Any help / advice appreciated!
    dcx_badass's avatar
Kodi will do this, has done since the XBMC days 15+ years ago.

Is Roku Express at £19.99 the cheapest way to watch Disney+ ? I will be visiting family abroad (Germany)and they have old Samsung LCD TV ... will it even work without VPN (I have UK Disney+ account)?
    gavin1's avatar
Usually you can only see content that the service has licenced in the country the device is in.

So in this case as the Device is in Germany you’ll get German Disney Plus.

You would need a VPN to see UK content, but even that also depends on how aggressively Disney monitor and block VPN use.

if it’s a short term visit and you looking to entertain kids the better choice may be to download content to a devices memory and play from there.

Most of them comments where from 2 years ago, updates have fixed many problems.
  32. joebaker123's avatar
This has Disney+ ! Meaning I would not buy it. Yaaay!
    greenant's avatar
Then don't buy the subscription. The app itself isn't about to jump out and bite you.
  33. Mebster's avatar
Slightly off topic but does anyone have an A-Z guide on how to get retro games on the Nvidia shield?
  34. Ironthroneking's avatar
    Can it play Snake II?
    BodisBest's avatar
    No. Just snake

This box Vs Nvidia Shield 2017? I'm currently on Shield version 9.0.2 and it's a lot laggier then it was when I bought it. I've been humming and ahhing about whether to update it to the latest version or downgrade it back to version 8? If someone can clarify for me, I'd be grateful as I use my box everyday.
    maxyone1's avatar
I would think Nvidia is a better option.
I do own the cylinder like Nvidia shield that I have been using for Netflix, YouTube, Disney, Amazon and more for the past 2-3 years without problems or lag issues.
Never knew Nokia was making android boxes.
  36. Digicrest's avatar
Is this better than the Amazon fire cube? Was twice the price when I got it but that was years ago (I think)
    KP777's avatar
I have the Fire Cube 2nd Gen and I wouldn't get this in place. This has Android TV OS 10, so some apps will tend to be more compatible. But the Fire Cube is still an incredible streaming device and unless it's unusable now for some reason, I'd stick to it.
  37. Jessie72's avatar
I am a Roku fan I wasn't aware that Nokia is into streaming these
    days...
