Roland FP-10 Digital Piano Overview
"The FP-10 is the perfect piano for anyone needing a digital piano with a realistic acoustic piano feel, authentic sound and modern technology. The action has ivory feel, individually weighted keys and even has escapement, just like a high end acoustic grand piano does. Not only that, the sound is incredibly expressive, thanks to the amazing SuperNATURAL sound engine and the way it interacts with you as you play. The Bluetooth connectivity is no gimmick, it really sets the keyboard apart from anything in the competition. You can connect to either your iOS or Android Smart Mobile Device to our Piano Partner 2 App, giving you access to additional sounds, interactive lessons and a diary to log your practice. PP2 also gives you virtual control of the keyboard, enabling you to Split, Layer, change Tone, Volume and many other settings.

GAK also sell the stand for £79
gak.co.uk/en/…928

And the have a generic sustain pedal for £15.99
gak.co.uk/en/…070

I've played accoustic piano for 50 years and bought my FP-10 in November 2019 from Amazon for £379 (now £399).

The FP-10 is brilliant for any level of piano player.

It comes with free delivery and 3 years warranty.
GAK were unaware of any time limit on this current price when I rang them today 3.7.23.

It's also versatile.
I've hooked it up from the headphone socket to the line in port on a Roland UA-4FX Stream Station and then outputted the Stream Station to a Marshall AS50D amp and played guitar solos on the FP-10 keyboard. The sound quality is perfect 🤟🏻.

MONEY IS TIGHT
My parents paid £350 in 1977 for a Challen Demi Grand (an octave short, vertical strings, empty winged voice box attached to the back).

The FP-10 is much better value for money, more fun, more versatile and does not require expensive tuning at £80+ a pop

WARNING: This is not an all singing, all dancing keyboard with loads of on board sounds and rhythms, in fact it has NO rhythm section.

This is a fantastic digital piano with an extremely high quality key action used in Roland's higher end digital pianos and Bluetooth Midi which opens up a whole new experience of sound.

This price is not some super price-drop deal but if you factor in inflation since 2019 when the FP-10 first came out (or just inflation in the last 12 months 🙈) AND you are genuinely looking to buy a digital piano then this is a no-brainer.

APOLOGIES there seems to be no way to edit this deal.
    1) the FP-10 is no longer in stock at GAK and won't be until October 2023 so don't bother with them.

Is a working link for PMT in brum.

Maybe somebody from HUKD could contact me?
    Thanks

I was taught classical piano, from the age of 8,
which requires a soft pedal. The FP-10 does not have a soft pedal so I'm guessing this wouldn't be suitable.

If you are learning contemporary piano then this is perfect for any level and age.

For me, the most important thing on a digital piano is the 'hammer' action (how the keys react when you play them) and the action on the FP-10 is very authentic. Roland has used the same action in its higher end FP-30 and FP-60 digital pianos. Having a smooth, true action improves your playing experience.

This review explains things better than me.

The sound of the FP-10 itself is great.
I use it with headphones or link it up to a hifi system. You can manipulate the sound easily this way with your volume/bass/treble controls on your hifi.

The Roland pedal that comes with the FP-10 is rubbish and not suitable. It's too small, the wrong shape, slides around. Roland made a mistake shipping this pedal with such a good digital piano so please purchase one of the generic sustain pedals . I use the Roland pedal as a hand sustain pedal on my Roland MC 303 Groove Box.

The FP-10 stand is perfect. Solid and stable 🏻

I read a lot of reviews about the FP-10 before I purchased it in 2019. I even googled "Roland FP-10 Digital Piano issues" as I was looking for problems. The worst things I read were about the inbuilt speakers and the lack of onboard instrumentation. The speakers are OK but I prefer to play the FP-10 through a hifi anyway so that was never going to be an issue and you can extend the instrumentation via Bluetooth midi and Roland's Piano Partner 2 app.

Bluetooth midi is fantastic as is the Piano Partner 2 App which will allow you to 'split' the keyboard so the teacher can play one half whilst the student plays the other half BOTH in the same octave range. This isn't possible on an accoustic piano.

I've seen nothing that compares to the FP-10 for the price and the only reason I posted this deal was because I was so surprised that the price was back to where it was in 2019.

I paid £80 to have the Challen tuned.
You will never need to tune the FP-10

Can I ask how this compares to my old Roland ep7e?

I've not played an EP 7 E, sorry. I've had a quick look online. It's a much older model that doesn't have the modern technology of the FP-10 like the PH-4 action and Bluetooth midi. The one that was sold on eBay earlier this year for around £60 was described as a 'vintage' digital keyboard. Having said that if you're happy with it, jobsagudn . No point in shelling out more on stuff you don't need.
Sorry I couldn't offer more insight.

If you place your left forearm gently over a group of lower octave piano keys on an accoustic piano without actually making a tone but just allowing the hammers to stay off the strings, and then play a few notes in the upper scale without using the sustain pedal , you will still here some sound resonance as the upper octave tones vibrate against the lower octave open strings.

The FP-10, although digital, will do the same thing. This is very clever from Roland and a sign of their excellent sound engine. (edited)

which digital piano would you reccomend for absolute beginners? 4 yr and adult?

    Thanks

Standard sized keys are likely to be too large for the 4 yr old (their hands are not large enough).
If you have no intention of becoming a classical pianist fully weighted keys (which mimic classic pianos) imo is less important.

Touch sensitive keys (the harder you hit the louder the note) is important.

Bluetooth is essential to use with learning apps like Skoove, Flowkey, Pianonote etc

The Casio Ct-s1 (with Bluetooth dongle) is a great sounding compact keyboard but the Casio CT-s300 might be more fun for a youngster.  The Yamaha PSR e373 is another that is generally recommended for beginners.

Don’t let included lessons sway you too much as there are plenty of online learning apps.

There are plenty of cheaper options out there - buy one which meets your needs and budget. (edited)

Wenn schon, denn schon (as they say in Germany ). I would recommend watching the YouTube video reviews and comparisons. I'd never heard the word 'escapement' until 2019 and who'd have guessed you can replicate on a digital piano the sound created by opening the lid on an accoustic piano ?
You can also change the resistance on the action to 'light' which might help your 4 year old

I have an FP 30 and the action is excellent for the price. I paid £6-700 IIRC. It's not as astounding as a high-end Nord or something, but if you can afford £2 1/2 - 3,000 lend me a tenner.

This is a pretty transparent comparison between the FP-10 and the FP-30. The action in both is the same.

Assuming you were enquiring about a digital piano for a 4 Yr and adult beginner, the FP-10 is perfect.

If, however, you're looking for a keyboard to have fun on then the FP-10 probably isn't suitable.
