Isn't there usually a tool at the operator end?

I've had an electric chainsaw , ok for small stuff but like a chocolate tea pot against anything substantial . Petrol only for proper tree work

Good bar and safety chain - good for the price

I don't know about this particular item, but he may have a good point. Many of the things I've purchased with good reviews that turn out to be garbage, is due to people having one go on something and then leaving a 5 star review the next day. It's so annoying, that I now try to find those 'other' minority reviews that may actually paint a clearer picture of what you're buying than what the reviews suggest. I've made enough mistakes to know that sometimes the majority vote is not always the correct one - just look at Brexit (embarrassed)

Cheap enough, but you might need this.....

Been wanting a new one

Is that the regular or "Zombie Apocalypse" edition?

Good saw these had ones 2 years . Cut loads up with it still starts first time

As I scrolled down on the HUKD app the first suggested item was a cardboard coffin 🤪

What could possibly go wrong with a Ryobi is it won't start so add training to set up the carb properly to the list!

Great for carving the turkey at Christmas

Yes have its uses just would like to see how long battery lasts. 20-30 min for £100 no thanks. If someone buys let as know how it does

Yes I noticed the video was edited, likely to save us the boredom of 45 secs sawing through a log. Here's a couple of Australian lads playing with the Ozito version with a 4.0 battery

Yes cutting bone dry log and just two cuts. Just have a look, cut is not continious, they change camera angle (y)

Here's the deal

How's the chain safety brake? Does the chain speed compare well to your petrol saw?

Having tried it on a major log/tree trunk yet.

Using it for removing a series of thick bushes. Most branches are less than 50cm in diameter and it’s handling them pretty easily.

Brilliant! Are you using it to cut up logs for the fire? (y)

I just bought this chainsaw - it’s pretty good for domestic use. Quite quiet. You have to assemble though, which isn’t difficult. It’s much lighter than my petrol one and seems easier to maintain. It’s got a self oil feature - but you must remember to put oil in. The only downside is that if you don’t use it correctly, the chain will come off and it takes 5 mins to put it back on. You need to get the tension just right to minimise the chain coming off, which you eventually figure out after a few hours. I’d say 4/5 overall. Definitely worth £60.

Hurrah Safety Brigade are back in the fold and we are lucky to have you (y) I am a special person, and observant, but don't worry I'm not stalking you...yet. I was looking for chainsaw deals and noticed your rapid flip flopping...which made me giggle, so glad you took my comment with good hummer. Now go run your Brigade with honour - there are people on here that need your input!

You are so right. I have not only betrayed those careless people, and myself but worst of all - you. Please be careful with one of these. It’s not a toy, it’s dangerous. It can have your limbs off in seconds. I can see you are a special person, always researching matters deeply. Just be sure to stop stalking me please.... 8)

The Safety realise you are referring to your historic self, as on Sep 4th? Yet in two days, you seem to have moved to the dark side and developed a cynicism for H&S & PPE and the Brigade. You've walked away from the people who wanted to protect you...the same people who you wanted to protect! What happened to you? You've Changed!I preferred the caring you...come back! "Once you learn the startup routine this is a superb tool. Just be sure to buy the safety gear too!"

Cue the safety brigade.

You should never use a chainsaw up a ladder. If you need to work at height it's either a platform or ropes, and if you're doing aerial work do the training.

Agree that chainsaw trousers should have prevented that accident. I would disagree though that there are plenty of competent professionals who use a chainsaw up a ladder/tree without issue. I’m normally one for having a go at anything but you certainly wouldn’t catch me using a chainsaw anywhere other than cutting logs on a suitable saw horse.

Chainsaws are not dangerous - just plenty of idiots who do not know how to use them safely and do not use the correct protective clothing. I don't believe you can buy a top-handled chainsaw without a competence certificate.Your nephew-in-law probably would have been unharmed if he had a pair of good chainsaw trousers on. You would have to be a complete numpty to use a chainsaw up a ladder.

I have their 18V pole saw which cuts through 7in + limbs just by resting the saw from 10ft below. This Chainsaw has an average of 4 stars out of 5 in customer ratings.

I have the 36v version of this saw, and its great for logs and tree branches, i've also used it to cut garden sleepers for raised beds. its coped well with everything I've asked it to do, So if the 18v is half as good as the 36v it should be fine for small jobs, unlike their pole hedge trimmer (poo) but that's another story......

Back to £99.99 now so I'm expiring this deal.

Having owned a chainsaw for years I'm pretty au fait with the risks if not handled correctly, this unit looks ideal for downsizing timber for my log burner and negates the use of a workhorse, my only reservation is that with the chain being somewhat shorter than a regular chainsaw I'd imagine it will need sharpened more regulary, has anyone any details on how easy it is to sharpen theses saws as it looks like a bitch to get access...

Not sure why chainsaws get so much stick on here. Worx is a decent brand and usually carry a 3 year warranty. I bought a Ryobi chainsaw from Very that got hammered in reviews but its a breeze to use and cut through a fairly hefty tree like butter. I am sure this onw will prove very useful for most tasks.

Are these light enough to dual wield?

I have the lithium Ion gardenline pole trimmer from Aldi and it's superb.

Anyone know if Ryobi batteries are compatible with Black and Decker equipment?

Tesco link says 'This pole hedge trimmer has an 1800-2350mm adjusting length ranger' For comparisson with other pole hedge trimmers Tesco's is 400W for £30. On Aldi's website theirs is 1010W for £59.99. Toolstation sell a 900W Einhell trimmer for £93.96. Screwfix have a 550W MacAllister trimmer for £59.99.

Aldi have a 16" 41cc chainsaw on their website, I've owned one for a couple of years without a single problem, £79.99

They had one WG303E 2000W 40cm one in Wakefield Wickes for £59.99 if that's of any use to anyone. But in a previous deal someone said it's the same as the TITAN TTB355CHN from screwfix which is £49.99

You are right. Wouldn’t surprise if they all manufacture from the same company in China.

They are probably the same machine badged under various names for different companies. Used our Titan one again today to cut up rotten fence panels. If you have a big job, like clearing a garden, these are well worth fifty quid.

Agreed, I would never use it at an industrial level like a tree surgeon so any cheap one would do.

Thanks - ordered. Was in the store yesterday and saw it being promoted at £99. For £85 (plus 1% TCB plus TCB £2.50 bonus for a purchase over £25 plus 1%credit card cashback) it looks great. Cheap chainsaws are not a false economy in my (limited) experience) - have been using a cheap (~ £100) Italian (Efco) chainsaw to cut many many tons of wood over the last 5 years and it's been fine. The bar has now warn out, both chains are blunt and the brake has worn out (twice), but it's been a perfectly good tool. Have to see how the Titan compares.

Bit early for my Halloween props to be honest. Heat though anyway

Bought a Parker.. about the same price within extra chain. Cut down many trees and stumps in my garden. Great tool. Never wore any ppe until I saw some YouTube vids. Now have gloves, helmet glasses AND MY FOOTBALL SHIN PADS!

If you are going cheap get an electric one. The engine on this will last 5 seconds. Landfill junk. False economy. I've been there.

Anyone got a chainsaw I can borrow? Need one for a day and rental looks like about £60 which seems way too high!

It's nice and lightweight which is good to carry around and handle, plus none of the mess or noise with a petrol model. On the bad side, because it is light it can bounce around a bit on harder woods. I've also found the battery life terrible in mine. Lasts about 40 cuts on medium hardness wood which is obviously terrible.

would like a bit more info just out of curiosity tbh but prefer petrol saws thanks

I was going to call you a smart arse but the smart bit might be too generous.... Was on my phone at the time so want going to tap out a 10,000 word essay. Happy to expand on it if anyone's interested but didn't expect many to be interested to be honest.

Thank you! I am an adult too you know????

Homelite are another of the cheap common brands found in B&Q type stores. They don't look as good as Ryobis but the build quality is equally crap and parts availability is poor.

Its fairly common knowledge, they are set too lean from new to pass emissions tests, they start poorly, run rough and easily get bogged down. Don't buy a Ryobi without first buying a pacman style carb tool!

Mine arrived today, was not double boxed. The box looked re-taped and when I took out the chainsaw it had a rattling noise as if there was a screw loose inside the main housing. Suffice to say have asked for an immediate replacement, vendor blames courier but it should have been double boxed and it looked like it had been taken out prior to reseal. Anyway hopefully mine is an isolated incident and I will have a new replacement on Wed.
