Mine arrived today, was not double boxed. The box looked re-taped and when I took out the chainsaw it had a rattling noise as if there was a screw loose inside the main housing. Suffice to say have asked for an immediate replacement, vendor blames courier but it should have been double boxed and it looked like it had been taken out prior to reseal. Anyway hopefully mine is an isolated incident and I will have a new replacement on Wed.

So this Irishman goes into the tool shop and says, I've got to cut down fifty trees this weekend, what would you recommend, and the guy says, This chainsaw should do the job, Sir. The Irishman buys the chainsaw and leaves.
The next week, he comes back in the store and says, This is no good! It took me ages to cut down those trees and it was flaming hard work, so it was. I want a refund! So the guy takes the chainsaw and says, OK Sir, I'll just see if I can find what's the matter... Oddly, I rang the number printed in the manual and they said "Yeah, had a few calls but we did not make this one".

Seems as though they sourced out to someone new but the quality just is not there.

If your confident with chainsaws go for it but honestly for me reciprocating saw was just as good. Trimming logs after they've been chopped off probably no good for but for general trimming of large branches its great.

Ok cheers I'll try that. I don't go around cutting trees down so I never really needed a petrol one. I do however have quite a bit of wood from the neighbour's trees which were cut down a few years ago. I bought the Stihl from the tree loppers - I mean surgeons- and it was old then!

We have one and it's great. Auto instant cut out means the chain blade immediately stops turning when you release the button, so quite hard to amputate a whole limb by accident. Whilst you won't be felling a mighty oak, it will be fine with most conifers and large shrubs. We cleared our garden with it.
