    Random question - transcoding.

Would this be ok to start a home server or is intel quick sync still better ? (Hardware transcoding)

A good deal but do note all PCIe slots on these A520 boards are Gen3 regardless of CPU, a B550 motherboard gets you Gen4 on both the x16 and NVMe slots. Just something to consider when you upgrade to newer GPU and SSD options in the future. Especially with Nvidia and AMD's new practices of physically cutting lanes on their cards.
The RX 6500 XT is a good example here as it's a budget Gen4 card with only a x4 link, losing performance on a Gen3 system. (edited)

There is a B550 ds3m for £60 on ebuyer, and the 5600 CPU is £130 there, so £190 might be a good deal for those wanting to spend £40 extra than this posted deal but slightly better CPU/mobo?

In production the 5600G will give a comfortable boost, in gaming via that card not so much unless its CPU intensive gaming, avg of around 5FPs more id say.

5700X and reuse would be a very comfortable suggest of boost, further production, incease on cpu intensive gaming, higher L3 cachie for that AMD 6650XT graphical boost.

Can anyone help please ? I've bought this board, Do I need to connect the 8 pin CPU lead to the ATX 12v socket on mobo as well as larger ATX power lead?
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
    Yes.
It supplies additional power to the CPU.
That CPU would only need a single 4 pin but at least there's additional power if you upgrade the CPU in the future. (edited)

Great value and tips for budget setup in the description!!!

    As I need 64gb RAM, is the 16GB DDR4 for 27.62 (x 4 = 110.48) the cheapest option?
I don't mind sacrificing performance for price.

Got this board with a 5700x as a bundle for 230 and it works great

you put a PCI Express® Version PCIe 4.0 on a PCIe 3.0 motherboard?

5600G is a great, cheap, general purpose CPU.

It's just a shame so few Zen - Zen3 CPUs came with onboard graphics. Otherwise, Ryzen would have made it into far more non gaming machines imo.

Still, at least AMD have seen the light with Zen4.

What's the difference between this and the original Asus A520m TUF GAMING Plus. VRMs on original are not very good so hoping they have improved them

Would it be worth it adding a 3060 with the pc you listed in the description

5600G 3.0 via the A520 doesnt loose much performance against the 5600X/B550 4.0
so yeah its a good build.

Either this way, or the two 5600G systems i bought with a PSU topped up as mention within the post.

    if u type "3060" there is a 5600X/3060 prebuilt at £568 (edited)

I have just placed the order. Before seeing this deal, my plan was to build a £300 budget pc that would be capable of light gaming. I have a used PSU from another pc that I will be using for the build. My original plan was to get a used Ryzen 5 3200G and try and fit the budget around that. but that would not have the same performance as this CPU. I am really pleased I saw this deal, as my build should now come to around £250:

    Ryzen 5 5600G + ASUS TUF A520M-PLUS II £159.99
    1 x 16GB Crucial DDR4 3200MHZ £26.49 from Amazon
Silicon Power 1TB M.2 NVME SSD £29.99 from Amazon
Thermaltake S100 TG Tempered Glass Micro-ATX Case From Scan.com £34.99 Free shipping
I have a used Corsair CX450 450W PSU, which can't be found new anymore. I go to pcpartpicker to find compatible parts. Hopefully this might help someone also trying to build a budget PC.

You'll be a little better off running 2 x 8GB DIMM's, if you can add a few £ get one of these kits for £32-34 -instead -

    amazon.co.uk/SP-…1-5

    amazon.co.uk/Sil…1-2

    amazon.co.uk/COR…1-6

As well as the little extra performance from them being dual channel, they are also lower latency than the Crucial stick.

This 3600Mhz kit is also good value for £33, not sure on the latency though -

    EDIT:
They are CL18, so pretty nice. (edited)
