Great alt sub 500quid folks who don't need a higher gpu but mainstream CPU.

Feel free to see older 5600G vega and steel some boosters, some maybe good top ups; however despite the loss in respect of a 6600 the nearest alt 6600 is more cost then this at 600 with this cpu base and adding them extra as someone mention will surpass a good budget in prebuilt.

Check storms 6600 and Awd 6600.
There lower price options are lower cpu

we also have 3060 from 590 on here to build up then we have the 3060ti ones too.

If more budget: move post....

But the original statement for sub 500 its great, if gpu jumping laters use the TX PSU I mention from the 3060 last week's post I did.

I was very impressed with the Palicomp build I ordered based on Sarden's recommendation about 4 months ago. PCPartPicker put the components at around £20 less than the overall cost, and for that I was not going to spend hours ordering individual components, resolving POST issues, dealing with component level warranty claims when things went wrong etc. I didn't pay for Windows, but they had even installed Windows installation files on the SSD so it booted to the Windows set up screen and all I had to do was buy a key from elsewhere.
Comms were top notch, I made a few updates to a standard build which were handled promptly, and the cable management and overall packaging for shipping was also first class. I must say their upgrade costs are quite reasonable as well.
    No complaints at all.

I doubt you could build this much cheaper yourself.

Wretched rubbish for horrible price. It is NOT hard to home build. A 6600M should be a minimum. Get 32GB of RAM - it's so cheap now. Good cases are on deals all the time. An NVMe is also far better- and they've never been cheaper. 2TB is definitely worth the extra.

Either you want a decent gaming system or you don't (and a PS5 is infinitely better value for many). Buying a rubbish GPU is money down the drain. A better MB is also much more future proof. Think about how many USB ports, NVMe drives and SSD/HDD SATA connections you might eventually use.

Home building is easy, until you get an assembled setup which won't POST. Unless you are someone who has access to components to switch in to test, it is very hard to confirm whether the CPU, motherboard, ram or power supply is to blame: depending on the supplier of the parts, there may be a charge for returning a possibly working part which has been opened.
If you are someone who builds for friends and family and has compatible parts to hand or to borrow which can be used to test, that's great, but a first time builder without that facility the above scenario is a nightmare.
Not a comment on the value of the system either way.

Looking at costing this with a 6800xt graphics card. What other upgrades should I look at? Bit if a novice for gaming pics but there’s a game I want to play requires a 6800xt recommended.

Up the Ram to 32gb. Get a B550 mobo +gen 4 Nvme drive 1-2tb depending on the budget. Upgrade the PSU to something that won't pause a fire hazard. 6800xt are normally choker cards so consider a bigger case with good airflow. So basically what I'm saying is replace everything apart from the CPU lol, could slap a cheap air cooler on it to make it quieter. Anything around 20£ will do the job. there's a deal with 6800 non XT here, a bit slower than xt but still a beast at 1440p:

BTW, is the game you want to play - Starfield by any chance? (edited)

It's a good price for a prebuild. But, I would personally want to save a little for a better spec'd one with a 3070 or 4060. This will struggle with many of the modern games with their absurd requirements, and will only get worse as time goes on.

In fairness, I still don't understand why modern games are so GPU and CPU dependant. It's not like games have really improved in terms of graphics and technical advancements in the last ten years or more, but still they get more and more demanding for reasons I can't understand. Why devs struggle with modern games so much eludes me.

Lazy coding, that's all. In the days of FORTRAN or C (or even assembly language before these), programmers were working with very low levels of addressable memory as well as severe storage/ HDD limitations. My first pc was a 286 with 2MB RAM and a 40MB hard disk (yep, that's Megabytes, ha ha) and in today's prices, the cost was around £3K.
Nowadays, they work with almost limitless addressable system RAM, storage and 12GB plus of GPU memory on a background of relatively cheap consumer hardware prices - so why be efficient?

PSU is more then enough for it. Even next line up GPU but not past that.

    Its the FX model.

Which i discredit it being 700w and count it as a 550w and use on then systems only, if u desire higher boost up.

But this post isn't about higher budgets it's aim for sub 500 perhaps 1 edit.

More cash: use alt deals such as the 3060 from 590 and upwards.

What a great deal, would be ideal for youngsters if you don't want to splash out silly money for some over the top rig that might not be used to its full potential.

Nice to have the option of popping in a different graphics card further down the line as the CPU is decent enough already.

50712312-VvGpX.jpg£283 EXTRA for 6600xt? what on earth are Palicomp smoking?
    Willy_Wonka's avatar
A lot of their upgrades are pricey. Same as all the other built to order companies.

Why is it that this user always posts trash pc builds, that to most members appear to be a good deal, when in actual fact they are not? It's like saying let's go sail across the Atlantic Ocean for a cheap boat, with the 'hot' option being an inflatable flamingo pool toy and A pair of arm bands . I truly feel sorry for anyone that has bought these builds. Anyone with pc knowledge would steer clear of these

What have you got against inflatable flamingo pool toys and arm bands?
