They look very light duty to me.

Thin conductors made of copper coated aluminium.

Plastic clamps with a small contact area.

Comments/pics by reviewers re. overheating/melting, unsurprising

Maybe ok with the 1 litre, 3 cylinder engines becoming popular these days but I'd still spend more & get something up to the job. (edited)

Didn't realise there was such a massive difference between the aluminium with copper mesh/clad versus proper pure copper gauge wire, in terms of safety and performance (could also be made of other things maybe as some didn't mention aluminium, so not sure)

Nice video stress testing the two cable types, the copper cable took 4 times more load than the cheaper cable with less of a drop in current than the aluminum which is a massive difference in terms of jumping a car. With the copper you get much less resistance and therefore a better flow of current and less heat so they won't deteriorate the first time you use them or any other time after that like the aluminium . So the 2 things to look for I guess is pure copper cable and connectors that are not just plated and will chip away. The cables mentioned by above look great for £30, I'll look around a little later but they look like very good quality for most people and the price point is very close to the cheapo ones littered all over the place. You will probably never have to buy another pair again, at least not due to wear and tear!

These just look like the standard jump cables you can buy.
They're only good for light duty and will affect how well they work with bigger engined vehicles.
Pay the extra for bigger cables as it makes all the difference.

I just proved this the other day at work. They tried to jump a 3 ltr diesel van with skinny leads like this and it wouldn't turn over properly and leads getting hot.
Got my quality thick leads out and it turned over.
