sorted byI mean I could list stuff that's available as perks to a job but it's pointless as the only people that could benefit are those in the closed system
Didn't think I'd qualify for EPP discounts, but just logged in with my Lebara account at mobile.lebara.com/gb/…ung as suggested by Tendr, and that worked great (after disabling my browser adblocker which was preventing the redirect).
I confirmed that the panel does have a BGR subpixel layout. For Windows 10 users it's worth downloading "Better ClearType Tuner" and picking the BGR setting so that text in Windows is antialiased properly. To my eyes it looked fairly decent even with the "wrong" setting, but with both side-by-side, I could see it was better once the correct BGR layout was chosen. Text looks perfect to me now.
The default local dimming setting (in PC/game mode) of "high" is not good for monitor use. The TV dims zones too aggressively - for example if you test an all black screen with the mouse pointer on it, the mouse pointer gets dimmed a lot and is barely visible. I found setting local dimming to "low" instead considerably improved that.
Holding down the play/pause button brings up the "game bar" which is quite helpful for troubleshooting, since it shows whether the TV is receiving a VRR or HDR signal, and what the current framerate is. If those features showing off when they should be on, it's a good sign that the Windows settings, Nvidia control panel settings etc. still need some tweaking to get everything enabled.
The TV also came pre-installed with the latest firmware 1430 which was released in February this year so the set wasn't manufactured that long ago either.
As a bonus the sound quality is very good and outstanding compared to PC monitors. Picture quality is easily on par with my LG CX.
Crazy this isn't far hotter than it is, so much better than oled for PC use.
Thanks for the review , did u change setting or just standard settings (edited)
The 'like new' listing on ebay is now OOS @ 599, (potential discount never worked for me, taking it down to this price).
Going from a 55" Q6FN to this should hopefully be worth the upgrade for my bedroom. My consoles can now run at 120hz AND 4K at the same time instead of only one or the other on the Q6FN.
Rtings review, using it as a monitor:
