  • High reliability thanks to heat spreader and dynamic thermal guard technology for protection against overheating as well as up to 600 TB total bytes writing
  • Storage capacity of up to 2 TB in compact M.2 form factor (2280), suitable for high-performance PCs and ultrabooks.
  • The free Samsung Magician software optimises performance for you and keeps the drive up to date with updates.

Discover the powerful performance with PCIe 4.0 and experience blistering speeds to beat the competition. The thermal regulation of the Samsung controller offers high energy efficiency with consistently high speeds and performance.

PCIe at blazing speeds
Featuring 40% and 55% faster random read and write speeds compared to the 980 PRO, up to 1400K / 1550K IOPS and sequential read/write speeds up to 7450 / 6900MB/s.

Groundbreaking energy efficiency
Higher performance often consumes more power. Not with the 990 PRO. Experience low power consumption with over 50% improved performance per watt over the previous model.

Because a performance improvement of more than 55% over the previous model, this enables faster loading processes for a more authentic gaming experience for the PlayStation 5 and PC games with Direct Storage function

Smart temperature regulation
The nickel-plated controller and state-of-the-art thermal control algorithm regulate heat and allowing for unrestricted performance. The heat-spreader label controls the heat of the NAND chip, while the Dynamic Thermal Guard technology regulates temperatures.

Samsung Magician software
The user-friendly software solution helps you to always keep an eye on your SSD. With it, you can keep your drive up-to-date with updates, monitor status parameters and speed, and even optimise performance.

The 990 Pro is technically better if you want to sit there running CrystalDiskMark all day, but the reality is you won't notice any real world difference at all between the high-end PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives. Personally, I'd save £18 and get a Kingston KC3000.
