Still the king of SSDs, have both the SN850x and 990 Pro in 2 TB and the 990 beats the WD across all synthetic benchmarks - in real life feeling/experience they're nearly indistinguishable.

which will you recommend this 990 pro. or

What is the use case? If you are just using it for an OS drive or game drive then the differences between this and a "slower" cheaper SSD would be basically imperceptible out side of benchmarks. The only real benefit would be "better" longevity, but a normal user is unlikely to get anywhere close to the write limits of modern NAND flash.

If it was me and the use case is as above then I'd save the near £40 and get the SN770 2TB: amazon.co.uk/dp/…HV/

The higher end drives only really make sense if you require the raw bandwidth / random read and write speeds in a certain work load. Or if you are often transferring HUGE amounts of data between two similarly high spec'd drives. If that is the case I'd get the Samsung just make sure the firmware is up to date.

I think WD SN850x is a better value from Ebuyer eBay , priced at £111.99, specs wise very similar to 990 (edited)

Thank you, just starting a new build now. Was going to pay 179.99 from ocuk, shaved £31 off build so far 💪
