I bought just the legs the other day, then a 2nd hand wooden table which I took the top off, cut it to size and sanded down/varnished and it was all done for less than £100. Worth considering for anyone with minimal DIY skills who wants a larger proper wooden electric desk on the cheap.

Have you got a link? I just had a quick look and the legs-only version was more expensive of this.

Good desk this. I bought the rustic brown one in December at £102 so at £90 this is hot if you like white.

Easy enough to build if you know one end of a screwdriver from the other. Easier with two people to hold the major sections of the frame together while you bolt it together and then when you've put the frame on the assembled desktop upside down, turning it back on its feet. I managed on my own but a little awkward in places. The leg sections are heavy, and top heavy, especially the motor side so take care when assembling the frame.

The controller is pretty good, I like the height readout and the 4 memory buttons, and also the fact the display switches off after a short time. The motor is fairly quiet and smooth. The controller screws into place under the desk, unlike the power brick.

Tips: assemble the desktop on a flat surface, ideally a straight and level wood floor or a large table, but with something protective like a sheet to protect the finish. I built it on the laminate floor of my loft office, and just used the thin foam sheeting in the packaging. If you have to assemble it on a carpet just be mindful of the alignment, you don't want "steps" between the sections. The dowels should help align it but there might be a little play.
As with anything fixed with bolts, put in all the bolts loosely, don't tighten any bolt up until you're ready to tighten all, and then tighten opposites in sequence, a bit at a time.

Criticisms: the sectional top does make it more convenient a package for delivery (and manhandling through a loft hatch) but some people won't like the seams. I bought a felt desk mat to cover the faux leather portion and the joins between the sections and to be a better mousing surface.
Cable routing and tidying can be a pain. The power supply has long cables both sides and there are basic self adhesive clips to hold the cables in place but these have to support the power brick too. It would have been better to support it in a bracket that screws into the wood, and this is a mod I'm going to do. (edited)

I agree 100% with everything you’ve said. I’ve bought a 4 gang extension which I plan to screw into the bottom at the back which will mean I can plug cables in with just pone power cable sticking out.

Any idea if you can attach monitor arms to this desk? I have two monitors on my current (non stand) desk via metal arms but not sure if this desk sturdy enough for them?! Amazon reviews or Q&A’s don’t really help, thanks!

I've got 2 laptop stands on extendable arms clamped on mine. One each side. The wood (MDF most likely) is about 20mm thick and sturdy enough (edited)

Is it just me or have these adjustable desks become more affordable recently?
    zizouG's avatar
Yes, during and just after COVID the pricing was insane.

I’ve been looking at this but the longevity of the “leather” part worries me.

There is no leather on this desk. It’s leather look.

Are there any shorter ones in this price bracket? There isn't an easy way to sort by minimum height on Amazon

Try searching riser desk 110 for example…. amzn.eu/d/2…pLv

Can’t recommend this enough. Very easy to put together and decent quality. The worst thing about it is that the top is in 4 pieces which some might not like. I’m fine with it as it ids, but I might replace it down the road.

Would it be straightforward to fit a different top?

60cm isn't deep enough, the screens are so close to my face.
