Has been confirmed internally as a pricing error - staff have been instructed to price override to £299, so no longer valid

Hope they bring back the folding design. So useful when travelling. Only reason I'm holding off from upgrading.

I own xm3s and xm5s and have to agree they are way too big for travelling as they are so big that they don't fit on the fold down tray or the back bag thingy on planes they do sound a lot better than xm3s (edited)

Was very disappointed by the sound quality.

Wired they sound fantastic but wireless they are barely better than the stock wired apple headphones you get.

If the device you are listening to these on is using LDAC it should be much better.

Can we claim that tax back in the airport?
    fab3rge's avatar
I don’t know the facts entirely, so check this out for yourselves, but I think you can claim tax exemption in non-domicile countries, although you need to pay your tax on it when you return home (but there’s probably an exemption value limit).

Now UK is independent, you could claim back VAT on purchases made in EU

So if you pay more VAT where you live, I wouldn’t bother. Likewise, if the tax difference is minimal, I wouldn’t bother either.

Then again, you may have just been cracking a joke

I have these, great headphones. But huuuuge. It’s a real shame they don’t fold down for carrying. As a result, more often using my Bose QC45s that are much smaller for carrying around ( Bose case probably about one third by volume of the Sony case)
    deleted531767's avatar
How do the Bose sound compared to these?

Got to remember that how good these or other headphones sound relative to each other depends on your ears. It's no use taking subjective advice about earphone sound quality from other people, the only way to know for sure is to try them.

Everybody has a different ear and range of frequency response. My ears are diminished by years of standing in front of JCM 800s and 4x12 cabs and have very different requirements and preferences from the next person.

Agree with this, I'm extremely hard of hearing and I don't get the full benefit at all. I would say though that compared a decent set of in ear headphones I have, these win hands down.

Voted hot, got these for £197 on amazon prime deal 2 weeks ago, they are now my daily drivers and the sound quality is so good my old headphone dac and wired headphones are up for sale!

recently got these too. Sound and ANC is fantastic, but they're crushing one of my ears after prolongued use. really hurts.

    wish I was symmetrical

Are these better than Bose700 ANC or QC35/45 ANC? :/
    nosherfj's avatar
Yes xm5's have 2 x noise cancelling chips inside them.more mikes.

damn it's an airside shop. would go get them since luton airport is 30 mins away for me.

50718812-6hX4h.jpgBook the cheapest flight then just don't take it, makes it a desirable price still!

Dont but any expensive headset without 3 or 5 year insurance.curries is best as can do multiple claims. I've had the charging but saying not more than 10% battery left now twice.now no charge won't turn on.14 months old.lucky i got insurance.they change out the right cup pcb. 2 claims and thry right them off and u get insurance pro rata and cost of headphones in curries voucher.

Do these give you hot ears?
    stevenjweir's avatar
As someone who "runs hot" absolutely not. Only on really hot 30 degree + days, but you'd sweat in any headphones. They're fine.

At last a reason to go to Luton airport.

Dare I say BEST HEADPHONES EVER?
    m0z's avatar
Wired headphones will always be better but these Sony's are currently one of the better wireless headphones in this price category. The next nearest comparisons are the Sennheiser Momentum 4 (my personal choice) and the Bose QC45 or the older 700. They all have different sound signatures so the best ones are the ones that are best for you as it's very subjective depending on how you like your music. If you like tonnes of Bass then you won't be disappointed with these cans.

Great price for a very good if not the best wireless headphones.

    These don't fold?

Er ok, not for me then. Will stick with the xm3

    Good price though

    Welcome to Luton!(y)

I have these headphones and they are amazing. I travel a lot and I'm fine with the storage bag as I don't like having to work out how to cleverly fold them every time!

I've also got XM4s before and they're a small upgrade on those if you're wondering. I personally wouldn't pay the £200 extra to upgrade from XM4s - but definitely worth it for anything older than XM4s.
    nosherfj's avatar
2 nouse cancelling chips in xm5's only 1 noise cancelling in xm4 but bass better in xm4.
    When xm5 are £250 I will buy.
Get insurance.curries is best. I made 5 claims in 3 years on xm3's and xm4's.
  18. seekthevalue's avatar
amazing headphones but my genuine advice is if you like this save some money and go for the XM4, they can fold unlike this. there's 0 sound quality difference IMHO
  19. Swayeee's avatar
Good price but they sure are ugly. Not sure why they changed it so much from the previous design.

I have XM3s and I use them a lot. But a major downside for me is that you need to have them powered even when using them wired.

But for bluetooth headphones, they sound really nice.
  20. mumihp's avatar
Good Price but will stick with XM3 since it folds and no need to upgrade. But if the future versions do fold, then will be tempted.
  21. MonkeyG0D's avatar
Any good deals on the XM4 spotted, I want to upgrade from my XM2's but the XM5 doesn't look very portable
    Bazwaa's avatar
    I'm after a pair of mx4s too
  22. sir_duke's avatar
Can you only buy these if you’re flying only, or just visiting?
    deleted2936900's avatar
You have to have a boarding pass so no visitors cannot buy
  23. biketime08's avatar
If they are half as good as they are supposed to be bet they are amazing. Wireless headphones are the best.
  24. Jawz's avatar
How would these compare the the Phillips X2HDR's?
I have the above wired, but looking for a good set to be able to chill on sofa and stream from Tidal on my Samsung S23 Ultra (not flexing, just mentioning incase there's something that can be taken advantage of?)
  25. Attic's avatar
Is the deal only for the Blue colour?
  26. trilogy2k's avatar
