Does not include the TV cut from the 1980s like the UK and US boxsets. If you like that cut.

That's annoying. Was just reading one of the Amazon Germany reviews about that now. Sounds like its supposed to be 12 min longer than the shortest version.

Google Translated: "It is well known that the Super Long Version (also known as ABC-Cut) did not make it into this Collector's Box in Germany. Paramount Germany's justification, which is circulating everywhere, is a bad joke. It is said that the German dubbing of the long version is not available. Rather, it is true that this was probably not found in the archives, because the long version was dubbed more poorly than fairly back then, in the VHS era (new scene partly with new speakers, because they didn't want to completely re-synchronize the film).

Until the end I was still hoping that the version would make it onto one of the German UHDs (preferably without German sound, but with subtitles). Unfortunately, this is not the case. The back of the German version provides information: “Contains two cuts of the film in 4K Ultra HD: the Director’s Edition and the theatrical version.” I then repackaged the German version of the box and sent it back. Instead I ordered the UK version. In the end, the price was identical to the German version and lo and behold, the back of the import box confirmed: “Exclusively Featuring All Three Cuts of the Film in 4K Ultra-HD including the Special Longer Version.”

As soon as I opened the UK version, I was amazed. An FSK 12 logo is printed on each disc. I gained further insights after inserting the coveted discs. The disc menus are in German, including the disc that contains the theatrical version and the extended version (each version can be selected via the menu). The long version is also completely subtitled in German. After all, it remains a mystery what the German sales department was thinking here. Everything has already been pre-produced for the German market. However, to then back down is a slap in the face to any fan.

Regarding the contents of the box itself: The presentation is a matter of taste. In my opinion, a clear concept is missing. There wasn't enough space in the UK version for the bonus disc. This was simply enclosed in a paper sleeve. The gimmicks, stickers, posters, postcards, etc., certainly arouse nostalgic feelings, but are not essential to enjoying the film. Technically the discs make a good impression. I have never been able to enjoy the first Star Trek movie with such picture and sound quality.

Conclusion: The term “The Complete Adventure” is simply a misnomer in Germany. I can only advise everyone to use the UK version or another import."

Favourite bit is the fly around of the Enterprise and the music.

Mum took me to see this when I was a kid. I fell asleep not long after the Klingons got deleted.

As a young kid, a cousin took me (and his girlfriend) to see Cinderella but it was sold out. Clearly he didn't want to miss out on a quick snog on the backseat so he took me into this then disappeared off. I was probably around 10 or 11. Didnt understand much of it at all but it probably sparked a love of high brow sci -fi later in life.
Same cousin tried the same thing again when I was 12 or so and I ended up watching Pink Floyd's 'The Wall' Did we even have age ratings back then??
