Douglas Laing & Co. are one of the most famous independent bottlers in Scotland:
    douglaslaing.com/

They have existed for 75 years and do not bottle "whiskey" - they bottle whisky.Timorous Beastie is their series of Highland bottlings. Scallywag is their Speyside range. They also have their own distillery:

Alcohol duties on spirits and wines are going up by between 10% to 20% next month:

The duty on spirits is going from £28.74 to £31.64 per litre of alcohol. So on a 40% whisky the duty would've been £11.50, and will now be £12.66 - an increase of £1.16.

It's bad news because our duty is already so high compared to many countries in Europe... That said, I don't think a £1.16 increase should be a big cause for panic-buying and stocking up

Also duty is paid at the point of bottling, so you shouldn't see immediate price increases next month unless companies decide to take advantage of the news by ramping up the price early to make some extra money.

Edit: I just realised these numbers were wrong - the duty is per litre and a bottle of whiskey is 0.7l, so old duty would be £8.05, new duty will be £8.86, an increase of 81p. (edited)

Quite unusual to have a cask strength, blend, isn't it?
