I had a couple of this to monitor young cats when I am at work, I had them mounted to the ceiling, and after about 10 months, the motor that's responsible for moving camera in Y axis failed.
Both camera's where replaced without any issues, but now 6months after one of them is starting to have the same issue again

Assume as app based, if we had a babysitter they couldn’t see in the baby’s room?

App based yah, but can use tools to make it completely accessible through PC and download captures to PC also.

Not a true 2k with only 3mp and the pictures are misleading as they claim it to be 4mp.

Found these to be great, had them a few yrs and no problems, great for spying on your small kids

I got three on Prime day when they were meant to be £22 but for some reason they checked out at £12.70. So even though I'm not convinced I need them I'm reticent to send them back. They were for both keeping am eye on kids throughout the house and then for security when I'm away. How does it work in keeping your eye on kids? You open the app and check each camera one by one? And does it have sound?

Any good to have this on the window sill looking outside?

It's fine to do so. Bare in mind, if you have a street light to light the area, I'd switch off the 'auto' lighting function that recognises day/night light settings. You'll get decent recording.
If you do have the night vision off, then only thing is sometimes you can see the red infrared dots in the reflection of the window which could get in the way of the recording

Really good these. Had them for a year with no issues and do the job of cameras 3x the price. Good coverage, you can move them and and speak through them through the app. Night vision is good. Can share your account to view through multiple devices.

It's been this price for ages, most of this year I'd say.

Any recommendations for similar but external rated?

Tapo do a range of external cameras too.

Shame the two TPLink systems Kasa and Tapo can't be accessed via the same app.

These never seem to work with my SD cards, always needs initialising after a week which wiped all the recording s

Just got this, how could I get it to record/save images to my phone/offsite if it detects motion (without subscription)? I think I could get an SD card but it's not much use if a burglar just takes the camera?
