Energy consumption is low for these. However TP-Link has a shockingly bad privacy policy on its app considering these are just remote switches. The first review of these on Amazon 4 off goes into some detail. Personally I think these are great and have been using them for well over a year.

Not just the app. Any TP-Link device, connected to WiFi makes a tonne of calls to their server. I got their LED strips, had to block it all and by far more than anything else on my network is the TP-Link attempting to call home. I'd suggest getting a zigbee hub and going for the Zigbee power sockets. I'm never by TP-Link Smart Home products again.

I have about 12 of these, and had them for years, very good bit of kit and a good app too. Integrates with Alexa and stand alone on the app... Nice find OP and 1silviu1

Good price for a 3 pack, but 4 pack probably works out cheaper on Amazon. I've got a mix of these and p110 (energy monitoring), out of nearly 20 there is only 1 that has been a bit flaky connection wise.

got them set up with alexa, same with their bulbs b22, hardest bit is remembering the names for each device ie alexa turn on/off tv or bedroom light

I have three of these for light switches. All fine with only one lost its connection with Alexa which was fixed by turning off and back on again.

Good price and they are very good. Have them for more than a year…I like that they are smaller than others…

Get the Tapo P110 if you can as these have energy monitoring included, which is very useful in these current times.

I had loads of difficulty setting up the P110 with a virgin hub, whereas my P100 works fine. You may have to split the WiFi bands in your hub settings for the p110 if you struggle to connect

Can i use these without installing or using their app?
    jujuzeez's avatar
you have to use the app to connect the device to the internet. you can't do without the app, useful for firmware updates too

While we're hear, any good deals on wall sockets with power monitoring... ideally that will work with home assistant.

If you have a zigbee Hub, these are great aliexpress.com/ite…yeW

I use ZHA, plug them in, select add device in HA and it pairs instantly.

Shame they are tapo not Kasa though.
