Any way to transfer VHS to digital using this?

yes, but you would also need a composite video to HDMI upscaling adaptor. I recently did a bunch of research into this to transfer some old VHS tapes to my PC. The gist of what I found was that for a casual user like myself there are two main USB capture methods:

    1. Composite to USB adaptor. Based on this YouTube video I bought myself a second hand Pinnacle Dazzle (which I've yet to use). This method just records at SD resolution which can result in a slightly harsh rendition.

    2. Composite to HDMI upscaling adaptor coupled with a HDMI to USB adaptor. Based on this Technology Connections YouTube Video it appears to give better a better looking result, as according to Technology Connections the hardware upscaling typically gives a result closer to how a VHS would look when played on an actual CRT TV.

Also from what I read, due to the way VHS is encoded there's no benefit in any type of RGB output from the VCR, though there can be a small benefit in a S-Video output if you have a S-video capable VCR.

I'm sure someone will be along to correct some of what i said, but that's just my tuppence as a casual user who's looked into this topic recently.

Had i not already bought the Pinnacle Dazzle, i would have bought this UGreen device with a composite to HDMI upscaler adapter. in fact i may still even do that...

    Hope that helps! (edited)

Got three of these and use them with OBS and three live HD video cameras for video production work on a laptop. I initially bought one just to test, but was so impressed I replaced all my previous capture devices with them (including a much more expensive Magewell box which would always run quite hot).

They were used recently for 3 days solid (8am to midnight) of presentations and never skipped a beat or even became warm. There is almost zero latency. I used an analogue audio feed and didn't need to adjust for lip-sync.

The only downside I could identify is that when you disconnect the input you get a Chinese error message on screen.

How is it compared to AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus GC513, if any one had any experience?
Also this Ugreen video card has the option to bypass HDCP ?

So, correct me if I am wrong (please).

Can I plug a firestick into this & record what I stream from it with the sound?

And the sound & video syncs? Thanks

Like that person mentioned you'll more than likely get HDCP. The way I got round it was buying a HDMi splitter and somehow that takes off the HDCP so you can record. That's how I used to make my videos on Kodi years ago for YT

This has a 1.5s delay if that's important to you.

Delay between the recording and simultaneous output or...?

What's the advantage of this vs screen recording software?
    Krystufer's avatar
CPU load - makes a big difference to stream quality

How would this compare to the HD60 Pro if anyone knows? I was looking at getting my son one for some basic streaming.

Is there a list of apps this does work with? I want to rip something from All4 as I cannot find it anywhere else but cant find a list

Could this be used for Xbox streaming; I currently use an Xbox series X at 120htz @ 1440p. I'm guessing the passthrough wouldn't support that ?
    v1n's avatar
Nope latency is poor with these things

Thanks OP. Nearly purchased this for £26 from AE yesterday. Decided to hold off for a couple of days and turned out to be a good decision.

Can this be used to back up recordings from a VM 360 box?
  12. energy80s's avatar
Just be aware that this will capture in NTSC frame rates, so no good for trying to archive UK TV shows or old videos.

Quick question for anyone who has received & set this up.

    Can this passthrough without power?

    Thanks
