Don't do it! I'd been waiting for 6 months for them to install after originally given an instal date - then they rearranged - then they failed to show - rearranged - didn't show up - rearranged - failed to show (you get the picture). If you read reviews you'll see what a shoddy outfit this company is and I hope they go under as they don't deserver our custom.

If you read reviews online you'll also see people that are with them - had an issue - and remain disconnected for weeks on end.

Gigaclear is run by clowns. I have it at the moment, and the actual service is good when its working (and I cant say I have any issues with stability), but their customer service is appalling. In attempting to fix their balls up with my billing address, they came and unpatched my property for no apparent reason and I was without internet for 3 days. I WFH full time and live in a rural area without phone signal, I am dependant on having connectivity. In the last 6 months I must have had 20 interactions with various customer service people, and they are consistently bad

Agreed, service is hit and miss, customer service staff pleasant but dumb following a script

I have not been with Gigaclear long enough to comment on the long term, but the short term has been pretty poor so far.

They decided to do my area using Openreach Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA), and that meant overhead install. That should not present an issue, but the surveyor seemingly (not confirmed) made a mistake about where an existing low-voltage cable was in reference to the anticipated cable run.

The result of this was that my install was cancelled without me being notified. I only found out because I called a little while after receiving the appointment confirmation because I was considering changing the date. I was told that the low-voltage cable presented a hazard to technicians and there was no timeframe for the install.

It took about two months of back and forth with the Executive Office team following the complaint I sent before the install went ahead, and I was not even notified that someone would come out and assess the situation. They just turned up out of nowhere, but at least they completed the install.

Even after the install has been done, it seems like they have violated the PIA agreement they have with Openreach by installing the new cable using the existing infrastructure on the exterior of the building which already has a drop cable attached. If I am correct, they will have to come out and amend by putting their own fixings. If they refuse, Openreach will have to be notified to force them to.

It is worth noting that I asked many questions about why the install could not be completed in my complaint, many of which were never answered. I intentionally asked questions about the specifics of the install so I could investigate and challenge their decision if it was wrong. To this day, I do not know the exact reason why the install was originally cancelled, but there were indicators that it was a surveyor mistake.

Forgot to add this earlier, but you can get 500 Mbps for £20/m on an 18m contract here.

I signed up for gigaclear in July of last year before the cables went down, they rang booked me up a few weeks ago, all went smoothly. No problems so far. I'm paying £19 a month for 500 up and down and I'm getting bang on that. (edited)

Just to balance this out a little, I've been with Gigaclear for about 3 years now and can't fault them. Not had any connectivity issues and the speeds are constant and uninterrupted. They were already installed before I moved in so I don't know what the install from scratch process is like but I've not had any problems since I joined and I heavily rely on my broadband.
They sent out Linksys Velop routers and helped talk me through the setup....bish bosh, been connected since.

Hope you managed to get connected or find a reliable provider with offers as good as these.

+1, I'm a very unreasonable consumer and have found them fairly solid service wise and when calling.

Considering I was getting 2mb upload speeds before I think it's worth the risk. I would add, check what speed your employer's VPN is throttled to - I pay Giga for 500Mb speeds only for my work VPN to throttle to 20Mb!

I have the 900/900 package for £25 for 18 months. Been fantastic once they got it installed. Now getting it installed was a PITA. They stick their termination points in the most awkward places possible, causing issues getting the fibre to your house.

It took 6 months to be installed as Gigaclear lied constantly about what was happening. In the end I phoned up the contracts who actually run the cable. Within a week they were out and got us fibre within a morning.

Speeds are always as quoted and never had any issues apart from the installation.

I went on a 400/400 deal with Gigaclear just over 18months ago, and the system never failed once over that period and I use internet and rely on high speeds daily. I only moved away recently to gain a better deal on a 900/900 package for the same price I paid for the 400/400. Gigaclear could not match my new deal, but did get very close, but were too late with their final offer to me.

I was really sorry to leave Gigaclear and they also use very good Linksys Velop equipment which you obviously have to return if you move.

We have Gigaclear covering all of our village now. The village Facebook forum is just full of comments about the astonishing increase in price after your initial deal ends. Fortunately Openreach have just completed upgrades in our street so we have full fibre options from loads of other providers. Previously you only had the option of Gigaclear for full FTTP.

I think that they are very clear at the start of the contract as to what you will pay after the 18-months. Near the end of the contract you are able to negotiate an improvement or look to switch to another deal with someone else as you stated.

Just don't do it, one of the worst Internet providers I've ever dealt with. Had the install done and after 1 month it was still not activated despite calling almost every single day. Had to cancel in the end. Funnily enough an engineer then came out 2 months later to try to activate even though I had left them 🤡

Pretty good deal for £17 a month
Came across this one earlier while looking into Cityfibre.
Never heard of them before today!
May be of use to some people

    Are you on Cityfibre?
They have laid our cables and been messaging me for about 3 months saying we can sign up with various companies, but I just tried toob on your link and they say they don't cover us.

I am happy with speeds and had only one drop off for couple hours.. funny enough they replied to my email about this issue after 6weeks that they cannot see any issue at the moment.. they are my only option as openreach on my street offer only 38mbps line.. adjacent street however offers 300mbps openreach but they have no plans to expand to my street.. so probably have to bite the bullet with higher prices after initial period

Gigaclear came to our area I signed up immediately then cancelled in the cool off period decided it looked to good to be true and would wait till others had tried it , people who have it in the village are getting the same speed as BT about 80mb and in the gigaclear contract it says guaranteed 40mb I believe so nothing they can do all that effort and it’s no better than what’s already there.

Oh I don't know. Gigaclear is a provider across a number of Counties in England and option to tens or even hundreds of thousands of people. Someone can post they found a Nintendo Switch for £80 in a single Tesco somewhere and it goes crazy on here.
