Incredible price, but buyer beware as these aren't being made brand new anymore and you'll have to navigate the possibility of scratched lenses and crusted mystery human fluids.

For anyone eith more DIY inclinations, here's a refurbishing guide which will cover the deep cleaning process and also lists a few optional upgrades for maintaining the longevity, specifically for the CUH-ZVR2 (the second iteration of the PS4's PSVR).

The lack of backwards compatibility for software onto PSVR2 is a massive shame as it'll mean games from defunct devs or vulnerable to awful licencing arrangements (eg like Dirt Rally VR, Driveclub VR and Wipeout VR) are stuck on the first PSVR. (edited)

Back compat not being there was just the worst. I understand it from a certain POV, but just offering devs a plug-in conversion kit of sorts would have saved a few games from the scrapheap.

As it stands now, I need to shell out about 1500 quid to get the TV, PS5 and headset to flip to next gen, and it's just not worth it.

WORST VR HEADSET EVER MADE, THE SCREEN QUALITY IS SO GARBAGE, IT FEELS LIKE A TOY, IT WILL 100% COME WITH FRESH BRITISH EAR WAX (FROM MY EXPERIENCE), YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

It's OLED screen was great for the time, but it's 8 years old and can't compete with modern headsets. There are some great games for PSVR and it doesn't look like they'll ever be available for PSVR2, or any other platform of course, and you will be hard pushed to find these new.

Also, hames consoles are generally considered to be toys. You'll be disappointed if intend to use it to update your Excel spreadsheets, or expect it to help with the housework...

Noob question but do I need a console along side this? Or just buy games?
    thecresta's avatar
Not just a console - you also need a camera and a processor unit. Without them you'll just have a fancy bit of headwear.

I presume they include the processor unit with the headset. Otherwise it's of no use.

Surprised by the cold votes considering this is the lowest it’s been at CeX. (edited)

Tempted to take a punt on a better one at this price. Got my kit second hand, and the headset stinks of cigarettes and stale sweat.

Loved this thing back in 2016, then Sony ditched it and VR died.

If these have ever been used to play Beat Saber, you might want to give it a miss 🥵💦🤢🤮 (edited)

I've got one gathering dust in the cupboard. The wires are just plain annoying.

I sold mine just before the PSVR2 was announced. I got £420 for it with games and move controllers, etc.

Someone from Ebay got a terrible deal hahahaha

Can new vr games on the ps5 be played on this vr headset?
    KodaBear's avatar
No. But with an adaptor you can play PS4 VR games on this using your PS5 console.
  14. DealDarren's avatar
In all honesty it's a better buy than the PSVR2 simply because it was actually supported by Sony and there are a number of excellent VR titles you'll only be able to play on this headset.

Also worth remembering that playing with this headset on a PS4 Pro or indeed PS5 makes a MASSIVE difference from playing it on an OG PS4.

Heat for price... but yeah cex are awful

What what do I need to play this. I have the ps5 and ps5 controllers.
    KodaBear's avatar
You'll need a Playstation 4 Camera with adaptor, and then depending upon your game you'll need either a dualshock 4 controller or a pair of move controllers.
