The car rental is just a voucher that you give to avis at the airport, so you're under no obligation to use it - they really don't care

I always book mine through Kenwood Travel, they're normally cheaper than direct and I don't have to pay upfront, just a deposit to hold the flights. They're London based and I always speak to the same reservations guy, he tells me which days are the cheapest, last time he told me to come back a day later and it was cheaper in Premium than in Economy.

Ive booked my disney holiday with kenwoodtravel for the last 2 years and always found them to be cheaper plus you only pay a deposit at time of booking.

Why would anyone fly with BA anyway, by far the worse Airline I have ever flown with, both short haul and long haul. Flown with BA many time now (not by choice) and never had a good experience. I have flown Virgin 4 times now for long haul and they are so much better than BA will ever be. When price checking flights with both airlines there is nothing in the prices at all, so whether or not the £50 is off the BA's price is irrelevant.

Has anyone ever used netflights.com, they have the same Virgin flight 44 pounds cheaper per person.

What agents do you mean? I always thought it would be cheaper directly?

Just whatever travel agent of the day happens to be giving the best price.

Rarely do I see direct being cheapest when I've used flight comparison sites. Only the budget airlines are cheapest direct.

Expensive! I paid £680 for 5 nights in NY in February which included transfers from airport with hotel 5 mins from Central Park and 10 mins from Times Square.

As others said, go through an agency. Picked a few NY dates at random and found them all £50 less through reputable agents. And £350 is about right for the time of year.

£3,053 via Dublin, and takes 10hrs 20 minutes instead of 7hrs 50, an extra 2hrs 30 mins, probably less than the time you spend in US Immigration.

I'll admit Air France Business Class is £200 cheaper via CDG, but that's 12hrs 25 minutes!

If you want some better deals to the US, check for business class flights from Dublin. You also benefit from immigration pre-clearance as well as (usually) cheaper fares and no UK departure taxes.

Any separate flights to get you to/from Dublin have to been booked with plenty of tolerance for stuff to go wrong.

virgin upper is more like business than 1st class. you may want to check the seat configuration too if youre flying with someome as the herring bone layout means you dont really get to be close to youre other half, which could be a bonus. last time i flew upper i noticed a honeymooning couple and she sat on the ottoman/footstool for almost the whole flight but had paid a lot of money for the privellege. and finally if i was going to use uller again i would only ever fly out of lhr due its louge. all that being said heat for the price alone

The idea of posting a deal on here and then telling people not to vote it comes because "*insert whatever reason that the deal will bomb*" just didn't work for me. £500 extra each way for a pretty short flight is ludicrous too most people, me included. Hence my cold vote. I'd rather spend that extra grand on amazing dining experiences or hotels...

Its an OK price, but not fantastic. BA business class is £889 around those dates (out of Heathrow) and IMO BA business is better than Virgin upper, but that's a personal taste thing.

You really cant compare Virgin Upper with Emirates 1st - they are like chalk and cheese, and the problem with Virgin Atlantic is that they are just too small. I expect to see see them squeezed out over the coming years

Virgin Atlantic Reward Seat Sale Now Live

Sale in both Economy and Premium is now live. Also a 30% bonus on miles booster

Was seriously unimpressed with my last VA flight to Orlando MCO. Service and food was awful seeing as the flights were £1k each, but I guess we were in economy. Maybe using points to upgrade to upper class is the way to go.
I thought BA had a bad reputation but we used them subsequently again to MCO and it was so much better.

Otherwise I'd be using the Amex points towards a hotel on the same trip.

As long as you stay clear of:
Economy reward flight
Economy upgrade to premium
Economy companion flight

then you should mostly be getting good value. At regular required miles, the above represent a loss (ie you're basically chucking your miles away). At 30% fewer, well I'm not convinced its that much better.

Basically the tax on economy flights wipes out the value of your miles.

Best things to use miles on are:
Economy upgrade to upper
Prem econ upgrade to upper
Prem companion

Upper companion oddly is also not a good deal.

Its a tad annoying as im trying to collect enough miles for another upper class flight but a saving of £440 tips the balance

Holiday prices fluctuate all the time so unless you are in a hurry hold off, you could find that virgin are cheaper one day when you check. Or they could be the same price and thomson dearer, depends if you like a gamble but to just go off the price on one random day is a lottery.

It's worth pointing out that the discount is only applied to certain aspects of the holiday (taxes, insurances etc... are not included), so it's not a case of simply pricing a holiday and then deducting the discount percentage - you will also have to call or visit a branch in order to get the discount, which incurs a non-refundable sales fee of £25.

Shame can't get the deal for flights only!

Easter April/May this was the busiest in terms of queues.

Last week Aug/first week Sept (American schools had started back) queues were quiet. We did have some thunderstorms and torrential rain, but everything cleared up in no time.

November, we were there over the Veterans Day weekend, queues were busy for the weekend, then it was fairly quiet. Got to stay on rides without having to queue again. Also saw the Halloween and Christmas Park celebrations.

I'd go again in November or end August/beginning Sept

Parks are great at this time of year - but depending on your ages different parks are best. Weather not always ultra hot but usually very pleasant. Trick is to watch the flight prices regularly, do your research so that you know a good price when you see it and you can book it straight away. Caught a very good price just before Christmas for the last 2 weeks in October just £348 return booked it then it was gone the next day, so it is definitely possible to find a good price. Watch out for the prices from Dublin returning into BHX or Manchester - you can sometimes save £100. It all depends on whether you would have had to book a hotel in the U.K. the night before your flight

That's great that you're clearly intelligent enough to be able to work out everything about me from my statement! I can't see any part of my comment that stated that I fly first class but then maybe I'm too much of an idiot to spot it.

If you're wealthy enough and struggle to sleep in economy class then I think it seems entirely reasonable that you would pay to have a chair that can recline into a bed. The good food and other added benefits just sweeten the deal. After all, you can't put a price on a good night's sleep. Having said that, I agree that if you're earning £50,000 a year then paying for first class air travel frequently just isn't feasible.

Thing is we don't fly with them much - most of our holidays are in europe, hence why we fly with Monarch a lot. We didn't use any of our flights last year, or in 2011. Still a good airline in comparison to many others, but could be better.I think they should concentrate more on the personalities of their crew as opposed to their looks - we fly with Monarch a lot and while their crew aren't quite so dazzling, they just have a much better and friendlier persona than other airlines we've flown with, including VA.
